How Do You Fight?

What about you?
Range attack first with my trusty bow, then sword for close combat. Shield for tough enemies, magick as backup for the rest.

If i'm coming up on a bandit hideout in the open, i'll usually flank with a bow and arrow from the sides to dwindle their numbers then i'll bring out my trusty "banded iron shield of wards" and "Steel sword of frost superior" and go to town with the rest.

Other times i will use my "dual fury" set up, 2 steel axes that are superior, one enchanted with fire and the other with frost and again, go to town.

Almost every one of my characters uses a sword and a shield. I always enter a fight blocking. Once the enemy strikes me, I block it and counter his attack, usually strafing left or right while doing so. If the enemy rapidly attacks or never gives an opportune moment to take a hit, I always shield bash them and strafe left or right while slashing them.
This.

I will sneak in a dungeon (or up to an outpost or fort) and take out any distant characters with my bow. (Lydia helps with that - she's a good shot) If I draw others closer, I switch to sword and shield (I'm at 99 one-handed) and use shield-bash. I always try for a power attack. Just love to see those heads fly off!

At an end-of-dungeon boss area, there is usually multiple targets that are there, or are summoned, so I use a staff that has wall of shock and then switch back to sword and shield. The shock lasts quite a while and wears away at them, so they're not so hard to take down, and I can concentrate more on the Boss. I also use the "Slow Time" Shout, as I find it's the most useful of all the Shouts.

Duel wield spells most of the time, or use the bow. I don't enjoy close range fighting

I have tried everything but I really like Bows for ranged attacks and Sword/Shield for melee.

Getting the perk to slow down time while enemies power attack is great. Every time a bandit or bear or cat tries to power attack me I do a quick bash to stagger them and followup with a sword power attack of my own. I just love it.

My battle cleric (Heavy Armor, Restoration, Conjuration) usually just pops out an atronach as a distraction, then shield bash and daedric mace to the head. Usually works every time.

I think the funnest fighting type I played was a sneaky archer and I'd ussually just blast stuff with destruction magic if it got too close.

I have a couple of characters, each of them have their own fighting style. My current character? Well, give him a decent weapon and he'll slash his way trough. Screw tactics!

How do you normally fight in the game?

By having a kill cam do all the fighting for me thus ruining combat in Skyrim alltogether.

I try to keep my opponent staggered by using one word Unrelenting Shout and shieldbashes (sometimes power bash if I have enough stamina). After each stagger I strike.

Current character is a dark elf raised by an Orc berserker tribe so he runs into a fight duel welding long swords with no regard to blocking or body armor. When creating this character I gave him some serious scars to represent this.

Bow from range usually undetected and my character is a battlemage so no shield either more arrows or 1h sword and magic combo.

Unless I have lured them into a trap because that's fun.

Right now my base stradegy for any conflict is:

1 Conjor wolf (I wish I didn't have to get 90 Conjoration just to raise 2 wolfs)
2 Pull out shield and sword and attack head on
3 When a relatively strong enemie dies use reanimate corpse
4 Allow my conjored souls and follower do most of the dirty work and just jump in to get my cheap shots.

Then repeat as needed with while using healing as needed.

I run away dual casting the continuous heal spell.
While people may say that is the coward's way, I have to admit that can be a very fun way to play the game, especially when faced with a high level enemy as a low level character yourself. I think of that as being a survivalist and realistic approach, except for the whole magical healing part of course.

I remember once running away from a dragon as a low level character, and it chased me but eventually started a fight with a giant and was killed. I was then able to run back to the dragon's corpse, absorb its soul, and make off with some valuable dragon bones and scales to sell at the marketplace, while the Giant continued his slow journey through the wilderness all jolly-like. I only wish I could show that Giant some kind of gratitude, but your know how they are.

I also remember running frantically away from Krosis the dragon priest when I first encountered him, carefully dodging his one-hit-kill icicle spells and sprinting away until the combat music faded away and I was no longer being pursued. Needless to say, I later returned armed to the teeth to kill that vile lich.

With my latest character, I just have the incinerate spell in each hand and blast my enemies away before they can fight back. It really doesn't seem fair, but my character does what he must to ensure his own survival. Mithrandir the Altmer wizard doesn't take chances. Occasionally Mithrandir's aim is off and innocent bystanders get caught in the crossfire, but Mithrandir takes no pity on them for having bad artificial intelligence.

As a Mage I have a variety of methods for attacking my foes.

1. If I'm going against enemies that are likely going to deal out some physical damage, I'll make sure that my shielding (Oakflesh, Stoneflesh, etc) is up before swiftly conjuring one my Atronachs. From there, I'll strike from the distance with any spell that I think fits the situation.

2. Cast frenzy on a group of enemies and watch them duke it out until only the strong (although weakened considerably) are left standing. Then I can commence with the barrage of fire and ice.

3. Get the Atronach in immediately and cast frenzy to cause some real chaos. A few fireballs later, the fight should be over.

4. If I'm fighting a Dragon, I'll keep a ward spell close at hand, because I've recently discovered the wonderful feeling of absorbing a Dragon's breath attack with a ward. *dreamy sigh* It makes me feel so powerful. Other than that, smack the Dragon down with whatever spells I have in my arsenal.

That's one of the many things I love about Magic. There are always a number of choices for any number of situations, which in my opinion beats mindlessly slashing an enemy with a sword and blocking his/her attacks. (I'm not much of a Warrior as you can tell.)
