Conjure Bunny

EDIT: I just came up with an idea, Conjuring Spirit Animals that, unlike the Familliar, would not attack enemies, but grants you and your follower a passive bonus to certain stats (weapon damage, armor, element resistances etc.) while the animal is active. Like a Spirit Hawk would add 25% damage with Bows or something.

Maybe something similar to the old drain spells as well. There are effects such as slow and -25% melee damage for potions and diseases, why aren't they spell effects too?

would that work? interesting idea though. Do you have any thoughts on how it would work, without breaking the game?

In Oblivion, we had:

Damage Attribute
Damage Fatigue (Stamina)
Damage Health
Damage Magicka
Disentegrate Armor
Disentegrate Weapon
Drain Attribute
Drain Fatigue (Stamina)
Drain Health
Drain Magicka
Fire Damage
Frost Damage
Shock Damage
Stunted Magicka
Weakness to Fire
Weakness to Frost
Weakness to Shock
Weakness to Poison

Those were the magical effects useable by the player, I didn't list anything unusable.

1: Damage/Absorb Attributes would be pointless because there are no Attributes anymore.

2: They baked Damage Health into Fire, Damage Fatigue into Frost, and Damage Magicka into Shock. Not sure why they got rid of the Drain variations though.

3: The lack of weaknesses in this game is really lame, the fact that Alchemy can get it still but Magic can't is just wrong. You're telling me Mages have to use weapons/alchemy now to apply that? We should be able to apply the effect with magic, Alchemy is supposed to take (some of) it's effects from magic. Huge oversight by Bethesda, or they just didn't care. I don't know why they removed them.

4: Disentegrate Weapon/Armor would have been cool, perhaps alter them in some way.

We need new effects, Skyrim should have brought something new to the table. I'm not so sure about a new element for damage entirely, but we needed something new. Unfortunately, they didn't even give us some of the old stuff. They just streamlined everything, it's kind of sad.

Oh, and this is just for Destruction. The other schools had alot of effects entirely gutted from them as well, but that list would go on forever.

I would like to see all the spells removed, be brought back.

So damage health
Damage fatigue
Drain Health
Drain Skill
Damage Magicka
Weakness Fire, frost, shock, poison.
Disintegrate weapon
Weakness to magicka
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Damage_Intelligence
look at all the spells missing.

I would go with how you said different element spells like earth wind and water.
They may not give you that skill damage boost but allowed you to create an ally out of rock/ore or an overgrown plant.
Wind could cause stagger and water ... well I don't have any ideas for this but there are many posibilities ... maybe a water bubble that causes air breathing enemies to drown but they can still fight untill they die... even a sun/blinding type of spell

personally I would like them to break up and redo the entire skill tree perk idea. Many of them need to be combined or broken up.

A line of Nature Magic would be good. To include wind storms, earthquakes, darkness, whatever.

I would like to see shape-shifting magic.
Not the ''turn into a dragon and go berzerk'' thing
But more like the ''turn into a deer that can sprint fast, for traveling'' or the ''turn into a wolf for dealing more damage as you lvl up the skill'' kind of thing.

I like THIS^

Talk about an awesome DLC, especially if we ever have one involving Hircine's Hunting Grounds. Perhaps there you could learn shapeshifting magic and become the ultimate Beastmaster type character. Either animal companions or shifting into animals would be extremely awesome.

Of course, it's unlikely to be added in the future due to streamlining, but perhaps there will truly be a call for unique additions like that to the TES franchise in the future. With the size and scope of the TES MMO, perhaps good things from that could be implemented successfully in a proper singleplayer TES game, once they've had a proven testing ground in the MMO.

Okay these complaints about "lost spells" bug me as they always seem to just ignore what spells we actually have.

For example there IS an absord health spell, there are slow spells, there are damage magicka spells (vampire spell, frost slows people and damages stamina, lightning damages magicka)

Other effects are removed due to redundancy, yes, alchemy has weakness effects and if you want to lower somebody's elemental affinity you have to use poisons. Similarly with powers like shouts, racial and stone powers, most of these effects cannot be recreated by magic so they are truly unique now.
Want an open lock spell, get to the Tower stone...

Tower stone is usable once a day, magicka damage on lightning is negligible, everyone and their mother is resistant to frost and absorb health requires vampirism. Magic should never have been gutted.

I like this idea!

Maybe Shape-shifting could not only be for animals, but maybe even for beasts like trolls, and maybe even the ability to shape-shift into other races and so on. With "other races", I also mean Dremoras. Of course, these changes wouldn't be permanent.

And also: I may not know all about the lore, but is Destruction-magic limited to fire/ice/lightning? Why can't we have some spells that isn't fire or anything like that, just pure energy (like the spells in Harry Potter, and I think some spells like this comes with the mod "Midas Magic")?

Right now it's "I can do what you can, but worse".

This is why so many forum-goes say Oblivion and Morrowind had better magic systems. Right now, I'm not playing a amge in the Elder Scrolls, I'm playing generic fantasy wizard #3457.
