DB Questline Question : V

Is there another way to start the taking down the DB questline except for killing Astrid in the shack? The reason I ask is because if I am RP'ing as a good guy then the only way I can end up in the shack is by killing Grelod and that doesn't fit into the RP.

I tried it and after I became the person whispered to by... I felt sick about the whole ordeal, and didn't fit my char either. Reading on from the UESPWiki I seen it didn't get any better. So I reloaded my game and killed Grelod.
