I have a permanent +6 HP, and I don't know where it's coming

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:43 am

Maybe somebody can help me with this, because I'm not sure where this additional 6 HP is coming from (not that I'm complaining, mind you)...

Whenever I level up, I take off all of my gear so that any attribute bonuses of additional magicka, health, or stamina are removed while I distribute my point. I do this so that I know just how much I have distributed into each attribute, so I know where to go next. I also check all of my active effects to see if there are any additional bonuses I should be aware of, like a blessing, or a disease.

Well, when completely naked, and any bonuses or negative modifiers are accounted for, there is still an additional HP on my character, and I don't know where it is coming from. There is nothing listed in my Active Effects, as I said I am naked so I don't have any gear on when doing this that would give me 6 HP.

I don't know if there is any relevant information about my character that I could give to help solve this problem, but I can answer any of it. I'm just trying to trace what the source of this additional HP is. It has been there for quite some time now.

Are you on a PC? Do you play with console commands sometimes?

This happened to my character when I was on the console, back in Dec. I can't remember (big shock there) what was causing it.

I want to say it was a glitch that was fixed by getting a blessing. Kind of like a disease fix.

EDIT : Hell, it may have been in Jan, I can't recall. It was discussed here if you can dig up the old thread.

X-Box 360, so no console commands.

I was going to say remove all of your gear, but you have covered that, have you also removed any accessories you might have on you?

If so and you still have it go to a shrine and get a blessing and see if its still effecting you.

If that does not work drink a potion to fortify your health and see after it wears off if your health is back down to normal, if that does not work I can't think of anything else thay might help the bug out.

Go to your Active Effects under magic and see if it's there.

Done that, the only health effect I have is Blessing of Arkay, which is 25 additional HP, but I have 31 additional HP, and I have had that extra 6 HP long before even getting the Blessing of Arkay.

Ok, after sleeping...some....It is caused by drinking a Fortify Health potion. Now, that I think about it, the Blessing of Arkay may cause this to happen as well.

The effect gets permanently added when your health is buffed and your HPs drop to critical levels as the buff effect times out. I am not sure exactly how the number is determined, but it has been duplicated by others to prove this does in fact happen.

So if you had a buff of +20 to your health and then your HPs dropped to 12 as the effect wears off, you are stuck with either 8 or 12 additional HPs to your health. Not sure which one it uses. I assume it would result in a perm +8 to your HPs.

Unfortunately I don't think there is, or was, a solution in lieu of reverting to a previous save.

Are you a vampire with the Necromage perk?

Not sure if that would even effect it as I've only just browsed the subject of that little glitch.
