You'd think after you finish the civil war quest you could get generic soldiers to go with you like in the dark brotherhood.

Nope. The Legate pretty much thinks you are a one man (or woman) army.

Your welcome. Sorry I had to be so blunt about it. It really disappoints me too. I wish in the recruiting quest to clear the fort, the Legate to at least send a few additional soldiers with you and have them report on your performance.

ACTUALLY, there is one woman from windhelm that you can recruit. She is in the legion (former?), but you have to complete the quest "Rise in the East"

This is how i look at it. The Civil War quest line is only a Prolouge to something greater.

Its why the rewards are not wonderful when you finish the quest line. I believe War with the Aldemeri is about to start up in a future DLC, and at that point you will eventually become a higher ranking in whatever faction you joined. I believe eventually if they did that the Stormcloaks would have to be backed by the Empire, because the Empire is just way more powerful and has way more resources. I do think they plan on making a DLC that has the Great War starting back up again, there are just to many hints going that way. The first Great War was lost, for 2 reasons. It was fought on Tamerial, and there was no Dovahkiin... Remember by the time you complete the Civil War questline, you are Dovahkiin no matter what. You have to complete the main quest to even finish the Civil War questline.

I believe there was a bigger reason then we know for that.

The Great War is coming, Prepare your Swords, Your Axes, & Hammers, Your Maces, and Magic, Your Bows, & your Arrows. The scene is set, Summerset Isles... Time to show those Snobby Aldemeri Dominon Mer what true Mettle is.

I sort of wish you could pick up Hadvar, or Ralof as a follower, maybe after finishing the civil war questline.
Obviously to get Ralof as a follower one would need to side with the Stormcloaks, & for Hadvar you'd need to have fought for the Imperials.

I don't think the first DLC will be this one, infact... this may be the last DLC. Afterall a huge war (If they could get a big battle system working by that time) would be a great way to send Skyrim off with a Bang. I want the Civil War Questline feel like a Mudcrab compared to the Dragon that could be the Second Great War.

I think if Bethesda could just make it so that the enemies in big battles were simple, as in only a few attack animations, and no lootable, and disapears after 10 sec or so, i think they could make a decent sized battle. Kinda like what they do with the Civil War battles (Whiterun).

O' and by that time i also expect to see NPC's that fight on horse back too... That would add to it!

I'd like to see these take place on summerset isle... The only issue i see here is being able to streamline both the Empire and Stormcloak factions to have the same quests and ending.

They could always make it like i said, The StormCloaks may be resilent, and angry... but there resources are poor, and there man power even worse... they stand no match against the Aldemeri Dominion. The Empire on the other hand does... so a treaty is struck up, the Nords get to keep Skyrim, as long as they work directly with the Empire in fighting of the Aldemeri Dominon, and then the Empire later uses Skyrim like a Protecterate. The Empire rules over Skyrim, and will protect it, but Skyrim is free to have its own Government and Religions.

Also another idea that just came to mind, that can easily be worded in the history books so it could fall either way... what happens... is...

Second Great War breaks out
With the help of Dovahkiin the Empire wins
Empire destroys the White-Gold Concordinate, and Talos resums being praised all over Tamriel.
Thalmor are pushed out of Skyrim, and back to Summerset Isles.
The Empire goes into a Golden Age due to the harsh punishments they put on the Thalmor.
Skyrim rejoins the Empire, no longer angered by the Empires weakness, and Talos being banned.
All that is mentioned in the History books is the Civil War, then the Great War that broke out before the whole Civil War conflict could be resolved (Honestly it isnt all resolved by the time the quest line ends.)

Boom there you have it.

there is an Orc in one of the orc encampments that was former legion. He tells a little about it. I used an Orc to roleplay and he was my main side kick when we raid the storm cloaks :)
