I have managed to get my current character, a mage, to the highest level i've achieved yet (level 44) & i am using Alteration, Conjuration, Restoration, Illusion & Destruction. Although i rely on the latter more than destruction it is still great fun to play, and with 500 Magicka i can do some serious damage with Adept/Expert destruction spells on most enemies. But i mix it up with the schools, as otherwise it's boring. Incase your interested, i wear Master destruction robes, +25 magicka gloves, +10 magicka amulet of Julianos & +60% magicka regeneration ring.

As to warriors, i find the 2h warrior to be the most boring i've played tbh, with the sword/axe/mace & board warrior being much more interesting in comparison.
