The black briars

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 12:50 pm

snoody,and evil
every games has these characters, and you can often kill them..but why not the black briars?
sibbi wants to commit murder (again) on the woman he cheated on
maven thinks she owns everything (and almost does)
hemming just assumes he is better than the dragonborn legend (you cant even beat him in a brawl!)
ingun can be left be,just a simple alchemist

I know that maven and hemming play a big part in the civil war questline, but come on there were other BETTER choices, rather than those two

I would have liked a questline where you get to remove them systematically from power one by one. And then get the choice to become Jarl(If you are a Nord) or place someone else there.

I don't think Ingun is just a simple alchemist. The ingredients she wants all have something in common.

Im the leader of the Thieves Guild so if you threaten one of the Black-Briars I will steal your equipment, plant stolen goods on you and in your house and will send you to jail.

Careful. If everyone knows who you are, they'll just send the guards you way; in which case it'll be you who spends the time in jail. Public confessions aren't always a good thing.

Heads of the Thieves Guild have been hung before, and will be hung if they're too greedy. Not to mention the TG will rat out their own if they're being too greedy and/or damaging to the guild. The Thieves Guild is made so that thieves have protection, but also so that the guild self regulates their own, or else people will get angry and start burning things.

I wanted to kill the Black Briars within five minutes of first walking into Riften. Maven is a big reason I will probably never do the Thieves Guild questline. I won't do anything that helps her (as a certain quest calls for you to do).

Don't know about you guys, but I think Maven is pretty boss. Granted, my good guy characters want to slit her throat too. You should really do the thieves guild questline though, SubRosa, the second best questline after the DB one. Granted it does have some (possibly) problematic "choices".

^ Agreed. Heck, I'd say it's better than the Dark Brotherhood's questline, as you have to work at it to become #1.

Indeed. And who is she "wasting" all these ingredients on? :)

They should have added the option to help the jarl take her down, and maybe the theives guild also. I prefer when we actually get the option of choice.

Why would Laila want to take down her dear, dear friend Maven Black-Briar? She is so helpful and always gives her advice on what decisions she should take, and has even insured her that she has the thieves guild problem under control. What a wonderful woman. :)

But yes, I'd definitely like the option of taking down the Thieves Guild. I guess they didn't want to give us this option lore wise - and I got to say that if they gave people the option to destroy all guilds in each game the lore could very easily seem rather silly. Wish there was an option to turn off essentials on PS3 so I could get Mjoll as a follower and take down the thieves guild and Maven once and for all. Most of my characters are bad guys/grey-area people though - so I'd probably have to use my imperial war hero.

The Guild questline's writing is painful, and it really doesn't have much thieving to it. Or much work.
DB was more tolerable.

The Black Briars irritate me, add to that that they're more poorly written than the Thalmor. They don't have any character to them; pretty much just annoying and 1D.
