ideas to make lycanthropy more of an affliction instead of s

Hey I'm new to the forum,

After seeing the new dawnguard trailer my love for skyrim has exploded even more and felt compelled to join the forums,

I feel in Skyrim there are very few cons to playing as a werewolf and this has been bothering me,

Pros, Transform into huge raging beast whenever you like
cons, can't get rested

My idea is that like vampires are affected when outside in daylight werewolfs should be affected by being outside at night.

when a werewolf is outside at night his health starts to drop, if it drops to (eg) 10% your health goes back to full and you transform into a werewolf, increasing the risk thats comes with the affliction. However you still have the ability to transform whenever you like.

also when in werewolf form all NPCs, guards, villagers, bandits, animals look the same meaning you don't know whether its just a random guard your killing or someone more important making you feel less in control much like in other cases of werewolves.

These changes would make being a werewolf more of an affliction than a super power.

hope you like the ideas!

no, they just need to stick to the lore istead of making it up on the spot. werewolves are supposed to be badass when they are trasformed, they are forced to every full moon (or every night during a bloodmoon) and they have to kill a human or their health will drop when they turn back (iirc). although i do love the idea of making NPCs look the same, you are a midless beast during the transformation after all

the reason i suggested the health dropping at night thing was cause i felt the game needed some kind of mechanic that forced you to turn into a werewolf like you said they are in the lore, and i felt that this was the simplest method i could come up with, it increases the tension, and you have to find somewhere safe to be if you don't want to kill people,

as mentioned though like vampires and sunlight it can be avoided though if your inside somewhere like a house or cave

Glad you liked the 'all NPC's look the same idea',

i just feel that when playing as a werewolf your in far to much control of your power unlike in many films, novels and tv series where it is much more of a curse that you can't control

I agree that there aren't enough cons to being a werewolf. I also really think there should be some sort of circumstance that forces you to transform, since werewolves in the legends are meant to be unable to avoid transforming on the full moon. I think that having to rush to some secluded area to transform would actually make playing my werewolf character a lot more enjoyable.
