Kaleidoscope spell issue

Ok - I have not had issues with flickering before - Skyrim has run pretty smoothly all things considered

Loaded up a game yesterday and went to charge a fire spell and the screen went crazy with yellow green red flickerings - switched to 3rd person it was fine

This strobe effect was physically painful to watch - and would have been migraine inducing if I had continued

Please don't say driver issues - as previously mentioned I have not had issues with the textures before and this is only happening when trying to cast spells in first person - I've done a search through the forum to see if there was something similar - I don't think it is the same as the yellow flickering issue as I had a kaleidoscope effect occurring - like some really bad psychedelic hypnotic effect

Beyond driver issues - any ideas on what to do - or should I just wait for the next patch before playing again?

ATI/AMD videocard user? Update your video drivers. Doesnt help? Deactivate anti-aliasing and FXAA. Still doesnt help? Not sure what to tell you.

^ This. Sorry to say but it IS a driver issue. Certain older versions of AMD drivers do not play well with the 1.6 patch, it seems.
