I lost the Rusted Mace

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 2:39 pm

While moving homes in skyrim I moved into windhelm and brought all of my stuff. But upon placing weapons I noticed that my rusted mace was gone but my mace of molag bal was there. I went to every evidence chest but it wasn't there and back to my markarth and whiterun homes but wasn't there.
How can I find it?

They are one and the same except the rusted version has no spell on it and has less damage. It is normal to have just one.

You killed the priest. That will still cause it to transform. In fact, you need to *fail* the quest, by refusing to kill the preist, in order to keep it as a Rusty Mace.

That's the thing he's got the mace of molag bal. For some reason he seems to think you're able to have both.

From the Skyrim WIki about the Mace of Molag Bal (important parts bolded.)

Spoiler
Once back inside the abandoned house, follow Logrolf back to the altar. He will become trapped and Molag Bal will grant you his Rusted Mace and instruct you to break Logrolf's will. Attack Logrolf (you may utilize any means at your disposal; you need not use the Mace) until he submits to Molag Bal. Once he submits, you are instructed to kill him. Do so to receive the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Mace_of_Molag_Bal_%28Skyrim%29.

Use console commands. Or reload an earlier save, unless you know EXACTLY where you last used it at.

You're SOL if you can't reload an earlier save from before your move.

It sounds like you made a no-no... by taking both the Rusted Mace AND the Mace of Molag Bal at once. You managed to trick the game from removing the Rusted Mace from your inventory when you were given the Mace of Molag Bal, by keeping the Rusted Mace out of your inventory (and the Abandoned house, on a weapon plaque) before killing the priest.

This means that it uses a script to remove the Rusted Mace when you have the Mace of Molag Bal in your inventory. Since you picked both up, the game re-ran the script. Since you had both, it removed the Rusted Mace from your inventory. That means it's gone from the game. Permanently.
