About the game of stealth

hm I would do it slightly differently, instead of guards increasing the search level for how many times they get shot, I would decrease the search level over time. First, it begins like the regular guard search for however much time the guards usually search for you (lets say 30 seconds, because I am not sure how much time exactly do vanilla guards give up the search for you). Okay, so they do vanilla search for 30 seconds, then they go to alert status 3 for 30 sec, then to 2 for 30 sec, then to 1 for 30 seconds, that would be two minutes of real time and one hour of game time (think MGS with the alert, evasion, and caution phases). After 1 hour, I think the guards would just assume you left the area.

Oh, and if you shoot a second arrow, they add another 30 seconds, so it would be a total of 4 minutes of search time (real life) 2 hours (game time), if you shoot a third arrow, the individual search times is 90 seconds, for a total of 6 minutes search time, or 3 hours game time.

Except that game time would not be equivalent to real-time. Knowing this, it would just force players to wait longer for them to stop searching for you rather than keep to the "in-game realism".

Yes, but they are far more likely to find you, and with the increased torches and candle lights, hiding out may be easier said than done, not to mention the greatly increased search time. And it is still more believeable than just hitting them in t he head with an arrow, hiding behind a tree, repeat.

i like this idea, it would make the trickster class more fun (and make the illusion spells more useful!)

Also, keep in mind, 6 minutes feels like forever when you are tense and trying to hide

I like the idea - I'm level 75 - high stealth - Most enemies take 1 ebony or daedric arrow to kill.
I shoot 1 of them and the rest run up and pose for me in the spot the first one got shot - DUH!
They should be trying to find where the arrow came from, not staring at the body....
As for "I must be imagining things" while wearing several arrows - I don't know who dreamed that up.....its just weird.
I.R.L. if one of your party got arrowed, you wouldn't stop looking till you found the culprit, coz otherwise you might be next.
Stealth is too powerful at high levels - of course I take advantage of it, as I would if it was real life. My type of role playing says that my character will do everything he can to stay alive. Just as I would.
I'm dribbling on coz of the red wine I'm drinking by the way.

To summarize - Good idea for a mod but I think it should go further.

I really like this idea, just make sure that after 20 minutes or so, they will think you left or something

Another idea. After 20 minutes, they stop looking, but heal themselves with magic or potions and remove the arrow(s).

I guess I could see this happening. It makes sense...I like it!!

From my point of view, I would've guessed that their leader would be all like " hey we got an intruder...find him" and such. As you take out more of his guys, he starts getting more serious and eventually more desperate.

Thats the whole point of this idea. Its too make hiding "harder" for players. There will always be somewhere to hide no matter what dungeon your in be it in the next room or running down a hallway and vanishing from sight. If one of your friends was sniped by an arrow possibly you would try to light the place up as soon as possible to find him or you can run away and inform your other friends. Eventually, players will adapt and learn the whole process but there will always be a challenge in it no matter what you do.

Skyrim is a pretty easy game to exploit, but still, the goal is trying to make it harder to hide, which is what we are both trying to do.

If they can't find you after a while they should just flee the area. I wouldnt stick around to die by the hand of an unseen enemy.

Awesome idea. Unfortunately, Beth is too busy with Kinect shouts.

If you were using the Kinect the way myself and others are you certainly wouldn't feel that way. It was a fantastic addition to the game for me. I know others feel the same.

What the OP is talking about would take a lot longer to impliment than the Kinect did. It would be a major overhaul to the way AI functions in the game and could totally ruin stealth if it wasn't done just right. I totally agree though that the AI should be more aware. It would make playing a sneaky character much more challenging and fun. I don't think we need to be detected any differently but the enemy awareness should go up and stay up once one of their friends is killed. It's way to easy to drop out of sight and for things to go on like normal as if nothing happened. Having them pull out torches while looking for us and then keeping them out afterwards would be really good too.

If an NPC takes damage from you, they should remain alert indefinitely (or at least until you leave the area). If I miss a shot in a dark room, then I'm okay with them not searching too hard after a bit, thinking it was just a trick of the imagination.

But I agree, some stealth expansions would be nice. And for gawd's sake, let's PLEASE fix long range archery.
