What's up with Bethesda neglecting the ps3?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 1:03 am

Just wondering, it seems only Xbox and PC get the beta's for add on's and patchs... would it not make sense to have it on ps3 since it has the most trouble?

Only PC gets the betas because they can issue them without needing certification through Microsoft or Sony. Once they determine that the patch is stable, then they will submit them for certification and they will be released when Microsoft and Sony see fit.

What she said.

The 360 beta for the DLC is a rather unusual occurance. They probably want a beta because a couple hundred free betatesters are more effective then say the half a dozen they'd have on staff, and as I understand it you can actually transfer saves between the 360 and PC verisons so someone beta testing on the 360 could save the file to a thumbdrive then email it to Bethesda.

He's talking about how the PC gets to test the beta patch long before it comes to the 360 or PS3.

I'm a PS3 player and I don't feel 'neglected' in the slightest.
Xbox users get bonuses because of a deal Microsoft made with Bethesda. PC users have the better system, which makes it easier to beta test patches and such. PS3 users get to enjoy the game the same as everyone else.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't consider getting to beta test anything an enviable loss.

I'd much rather see the game when it's finished and (as much as one can expect with gamesas) polished.

This whole ps3 neglect thing stems back to oblivion and f3...ranging anywhere from unfixed game breaking instability (i.e. fallout 3's DLC) to timed exclusiveness of F3/skyrim addons....to the game breaking skyrim lag, and even the lie about 1.2 "fixing" it. Not to mention how bethesda seemingly "forgot" to give reviewers a copy of the ps3 version. After all, they DID want our money, regardless on how broken it was...

True, the exclusive parts. You're right, but it doesn't mean they should've released these games in a broken state to the ps3.

Maybe they are still making the PS3 version so thought they might as well test out the first beta that was ready to go.
