Are Vampires Creations of a Deadric Lord?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 11:57 pm

I know of Werewolves of Hircine but, do vampires have a lord?
Or is it just a disease and whatever the person worships XD
Don't really know a lot of the lore of the elder scrolls . . . I'm sure I can just look it up on a wiki . . .

Yep. Molag Bal performed intercourse with a woman which she objected to, creating the first vamp.

Molag Bal transformed a priestess of Arkay into a vampire.

He did so to spite Arkay, the God of Birth and Death, by creating a being that perverts the circle of life.

She wasn't a Priestess of Arkay, just a virgin whom he violated.

you most likely inferred she was a priestess since he committed the violation in spite of arkay.

Oh. I wonder where i got that fromt.

What you said made sense, and was intricate enough for me to doubt you just made it up subconsciously, so I'd imagine you just read a different source from the other guy.

I understand all that about the Vampires and I'm not trying to start a vampire vs werewolf thing, but wasn't back in morrowind bloodmoon expansion it kinda left to be assumed that werewolves were the same way, atleast the person that had the Ring of Hircine?

werebeasts are just aflicted with a divine disease from hircine (one that can over-take any other disease), vampires originally spawned from molag bal's...idea of fun, then some vampires got altered magically, some just changed their tactics and The Order even made a pact with another prince to hide in the public eye

If you think that's bad steer clear of some of the older lore.

Some wicked nasty stuff has happened in Tamriels history.

Some examples: The real Barenziah and The lusty Argonian maid. Along with Molag Bal here.

probably more but I am not a lore expert.

The Real Barenziah was like a porm star and the khajiit six scene was pretty explicit. The Lusty Argonian made is a playboy book of the Elder Scrolls! Haha. You are right, some pretty crazy stuff.

Molag Bal seduced ([censored]) Vivec and spawned a group of mutant degenerates in the Molag Amur region of Morrowind. This group became the first eventual vampires.
I think that the vampires in Dawnguard are the vampire in this group because of the alter of Molag Bal in the trailer.

Well, there's http://www.imperial-library.info/content/vampires-vvardenfell, which says Molag Bal created it after defeating a foe, and the Cyrodiilic myth, in which Molag Bal [censored] a Nede named Lamae Beolfag and made her into the first vampire (from http://www.imperial-library.info/content/opusculus-lamae-bal).

However, I am about to now throw a wrench into this. You see, when one wanted to cure themselves of vampirism in Morrowind, one had to go to Molag Bal (makes sense). After you do his chore, he gives you the cure, but notes he had to get it from Vaermina, the Daedric Prince of Nightmares (wait, what?). Here is his direct dialog
I see you have done as I asked, little vampire. It was not easy for me to obtain the cure, but I was able to pry it from Vaermina after some...discussion.
So, what does the Prince of Nightmares have to do with this? If you ask me, I put forth that the vampire disease was actually created by Vaermina, not Molag Bal. Think about it, vampires can only really operate at night, they have constant nightmares, their forms are very grotesque and nightmareish, and cultists of Molag Bal in Morrowind deny that Molag Bal was the one who made it. To sum, Vaermina gave Molag Bal a STD, which he began to spread with his very loving ways.

This.

Molag Bal "forced" himself on a maiden back in the Merethic Era and slaughtered her mercilessly afterwards. Then to get the goat of an Aedra (one of the Divines, Kynareth IIRC...), he raised her from the dead as one of his most powerful minions. He then sent her to slaughter her entire village in a feast of blood and death. The former residents of the village rose that night to join their new mistress in her thirst for blood.

Thus began the race of Vampires in Tamriel.
