Will the Playstation 3 be getting Dawnguard, or more attenti

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 8:23 pm

Bethesda, Skyrim has been a blast for me for the past six months, and I have played through with multiple races and multiple archetypes. I have to say that you are a wonderful game developer, but why so much disregard for ps3 players? The issues, I understand why they arose, but why are they fixed at such leisurely times? And dawnguard, or patch 1.6, why do we have to wait so long? It's one thing to have an agreement with microsoft, but we payed full price, the same price as pc and xbox users. Why don't we get as much content? If those platforms were going to get more attention, why not state that pre-launch, or give us a price that will reflect the lack of content. Also, I have heard that Dawnguard will not even make its way to playstation. If so, i'm sure you're going to find thousands of unhappy playstation owners. I'm sure there are more people who agree with me.

Dawnguard is being beta tested on the Xbox 360. The other platforms will still get the dlc.

Playstation will get it thirty days after Xbox. Not sure what compelled Bethesda to do that, but what are you gonna do?

PS3 and PC will get Dawnguard 1 month after its released on 360. The patches will come to PS3 just as fast as they will come to 360.

Xbox gets it early because MS payed Bethesda to do that. PS3 users aren't the only one sbeing left out because PC users will have to wait too.

You can't really include the PC version when comparing consoles because, the nature of a PC allows it to be much more sophisticated with regards to mods and updates.

The reason the Xbox get the content first is because of a financial deal between the 2 companies (I'm almost certain of it) that allows them to publish the content first for so many years.

Patches are rare enough and expensive to develop and distribute to consoles. Most developers would have stopped at 2 or 3 if your lucky, others would have left it broken. PC gets special treatment in this case because of the ease with which developers can test, distribute and change beta and alpha versions of certain patches, not to mention getting alot of feedback.

As far as I know Dawngaurd is coming out for PS3, although it wouldn't be until after the release on Xbox. If it's really bugging you, there is a forum about the DLC in general (sorry but I can't link to it, should be in General Discussion).

This is something I was wondering about. I play on PC, so patches are merely a matter of the developer's resources and inclination. But I was under the impression that, as you say, it is more and expensive and restricted to develop patches for console. Is that really the case? And if so, how is Bethesda able to do so many patches for console?

From what I've heard about many other games and I think a few of the older forum posts a few months back, it is more of a challenge to work with consoles. As for how Bethesda can do so many patches, I have absolutely no idea.
(Please note that I'm not a programer or anything, I play on 360, this is all just a culmination of topics I recall reading in the past)

I can't understand why PS3&PC users complain. The PS3 owners get alot of special treatment in many games and yet complain.Final Fantasy games, Mortal Kombat had Kratos as special guest character and 360 players got nothing.Street Fighter X Tekken had PS3 exclusive content and the list goes on.PC users get patches/updates earlier and they have mods. It's just 30 days!

Dawnguard is coming to PS3 and it was announced pre-launch that it would be released to X-Box 360 first. Also, the $60 that you paid - same as X-Box 360 and PC users - was for Skyrim as is, not Skyrim + DLC content. Lastly, not all consoles are equal, and as such are not entitled to the same treatment as the others.

Does being debugged for Xbox mean the same thing as being debugged for Ps3?

PS3 kind of gets the short end of the stick with just about everything except their exclusives which are few and far between. Bethesda was compelled by money, which in a competitive business industry is horrible I know.

Bethesda did what any smart business would do, and I guarantee if you were in their position you would take MS's offer as well. If you haven't realized by now MS is being extremely aggressive towards becoming the top dog in the console industry, so much that almost every multi-platform game's DLC are XBOX Timed Exclusives. Hell, alot of stuff was noted to be so at today's E3 already, and it's only day 1. If Sony had offered a deal (or a better deal) they would have gotten it exclusive for 30 days, but they didn't. PC and PS3 will just have to wait 30 days before playing it, it really isn't the end of the world. I understand how one might determine it to be, but perhaps one should go out more often, maybe meet some new people or hit up the gym if 30 days without Dawnguard is truely the end of the world.

Besides, you should take the opportunity as a positive thing, not a negative. 360 users will blindly buy the DLC not knowing if it will even be worth the 20 bucks, you have 30 days to see if you wish to spend your 20 bucks on it.

Broken Steel was pretty playable for me. I never bothered with the other Fallout DLC save for one I got with New Vegas.

The only reason I like this post is because I get to watch "HEYAYAYAYAYA" again. God... damn... do I love that video.
Anyways, Microsoft has been doing this with other games as well and in my opinion it is pathetic. Is anyone really that impatient as to go out and drop another $300 and pay for Skyrim again just so they can get DLC earlier than PC and PS3? I didn't think so. The only people who would be in their target demographic would be people who have both consoles, which isn't many considering you can spend around the same amount for a half decent PC, or people who are deciding which console they are going to get, and again the demographic is pathetically small. Consoles do not do well when they first come out, that is why we have six year old technology still being sold all over for ludicrous prices. Microsoft is just a really bad company and when I mean bad I don't mean evil (maybe I do) I mean they have bad business policies. Look at what happened in Germany! They can no longer sell their products in an entire country. They are almost as bad as GamesWorkshop when it comes to business, ask any wargamer. I applaud Bethesda and Zenimax for taking advantage of the stupidity of Microsoft, I really do.

Bethesda did a decent job with Fallout 3 on the ps3. Then the DLC came out and I was lucky if my game went 15 minutes without freezing. Point Lookout especially. Never did finish that one.

While I have Skyrim on xbox360, I will prob wait a bit before I get Dawnguard anyway. For me at least it seems a bit boring.
