Greetings,

being a big fan of the mod community I've learnt of the importance of backups. Every so often mods will conflict, requiring me to revert to a previous state where the game was working fine. This is where things go wrong for me. I have 2 folders, the main skyrim one, including the mods as well as my "Skyrim Backup" folder, which is basically a clean install with the latest patch applied, a copy-paste of an unmodded skyrim folder.
However, these backup copies never seem to work. Whenever I try and copy-paste it's content into my main skyrim folder, Steam does not recognize it and redownloads the entire game. This has happened way too often already. Living in Belgium I'm on a limited bandwidth, redownloading the entire game every so often simply isn't an option.

So how exactly do I create a clean backup?
