If I want to create a custom, and possibly lore-friendly player race, what should I look out for?

first thing that comes to mind: the [censored] vampirism system, where I should make a new vampire race if one wants to make vampirism work correctly.
second thing, hitboxes: how far can I go with height and weight before hitboxes go all funky?
