When someone in a city dies....

I never knew they were placed in the hall of the dead. I keep seeing people say this. Is it true?

If you want to get your post count up, Its quicker to just take part in the threads.

Yeah. Most of the time dead villagers will be placed in a coffin in the local hall of the dead.

He/she has 11 times the number of posts you do, moreover post counts don't mean anything.

Anyways, I'd like to know too. I've never head of such a thing but it sure would be cool if it was true.

You can sometimes also get stopped by guards if they come across a dead body.
Spoiler
Being a jerk in terms of the subsequent dialogue options actually counts as a crime. Dropping weapons in front of guards can also get you in trouble.
And I already knew about the hall of the dead thing as well.

I would like to take a bit of credit for this, although I feel quite certain Bethesda didn't get the idea from me. I made a suggestion like this numerous times when I was playing Oblivion. That people in the cities should be put in the grave and have a gravestone. I even wanted funerals but I guess that was a bit much.

They did have this in Shivering Isles actually.

I liked Oblivion's approach to dead bodies.

Guard: "Stop right there criminal scum, you've violated my mother"-oops, too much Gamer poop. "the law!"
Criminal: You'll never catch me!"
Guard: "Then pay with your blood!"

Guard battalion: ~Shoots 500 arrows into the criminal~
Criminal: "Gah!"
Guard battalion: ~Slashes at the criminal 500 more times with blades~

Guardsman: ~Kneals down~ "Oh my God....hes dead..."

The legionaries said to keep an eye out for Stormcloak spies.
