To little racism towards my character

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 2:33 am

I'd like to play as an Argonian or a High Elf, but the reactions of all NPC's are exactly the same as with any other race. I can't immerse myself into the character and the game this way because it doesn't feel realistic that the Nords of Windhelm accept no Argonian but me in the city for no reason, and the Stormcloaks aren't hating me although Im a High Elf.

How do you handle this?

I'm not a hundred percent sure what that last dude said, but I think he's onto something, insofar as you might just have to use your imagination on this one.

I want my Argonian to be allowed in the city but not just like that, it should be harder to persuade people (disposition :swear: ) and some of the guards should be hostile instead of being clowns.

Just about anyone will call a Khajiit 'Cat'. I finally got around this by naming my Khajiit 'Katt' so now it seems like they are actually talking about me.

But you know if the Argonians missed out on anything in Winterhold there would be an uproar from all the Argonian lovers (and yes there are a few). Or imagine if the Khajiit player actually was not allowed in cities, my oh my. So I can see why they made the race kind of moot in gameplay, but I agree it doesn't feel right.

It only proves it, the Nords aren't racists at all ;)

No, seriously, I agree. It's a little lame when you see NPCs being treated differently because of race (like, no khajits in the cities), and then no one cares a bit about if you're Argonian or whatever.

My furball and talking iguana never get the chance to say, "help help, I'm being repressed."

What about the violence inherent in the system?

Not odd at all, you're dragonborn and soldier they don't want to die through either shouts or a blade between their ribs.

Dunmer in Windhelm get a bit of action. The lady in the beginning talks to you like one, and the Candlehearth hall lady tells you to leave.

eh I see it as its not ALL races arent allowed in the city, more like that specific group.

The khajits caravans are not allowed in the city because they are associated and belong to the caravan.
The argonians are the ones at the docks. Nothings told why Ulfric moved them out there, but the Empire wont let them in for their safety.
The dunmers and the high elves and the bosmers arent biased against because tbey are interacting and contributing to the city. As far as the one lady being moved to the grey quater, I can only chaulk it up to she didnt actually own her house, she was just staying there for free which they were running out of room for soldiers and since she dosent contribute to the fight, instead of kicking her ouf on the street they moved her to another house whoch again she dosent pay rent.
The alchemist in whiterun I see as her wanting to leave bc shes pretty much a conartist telling people their sick when their not and that could lead to suspision and whatnot.
The blacksmith in whiterun I chaulk up to almost being forced out due to her involvement with supplying the imperials and who her dad was. Her husband very cooperative so they let her stay sinve her husband the one who sells the product.
Also the dunmer who get harassed by the drunk exatormcloaks is also very racist against the argonians at the docks.
As far as why ulfric goes afyer the raiders whos atk nord caravans and not the khajit or dunmer ones, I chualk up to taxes. The dunmer dont pay taxes so they dont contribute gold to the payment of soldiers for protection. And the khajits....well they dont know if tney would be protecting a stolen goods caravan or be protecting a skooma dealing caravan so they dont do either.

Did I miss anything?

Actually, that is part of the problem. Out of 18 characters, very few have been Dragonborn.

As great as this game. This is where it lacks. There should be specific dialog, quests, reactions and basically a different gaming experience for each race.
