Jenassa is a pretty good archer and isn't plagued(from what I've seen) by the dreaded hunter bow bug.

ANY follower that doesn't puch the PC. That being said...none.

My favorites are either 2 Bandit Chiefs, Dremoras or combination of...Dead Thralls.

Mjoll the Lioness FTW.
She's a boss fighter, and also a good marrying option.

There are really only a few options for good ones.

Mjoll the lioness cannot be killed so that makes her good.

The mage from the mage's college is the only follower that will level with you up to level 81.

The dark brotherhood followers will also level with you but you must kill them and let them respawn once in awhile.

You can of course use exploits on other followers but if your staying just within game boundaries I would stick with these.

Opposite for me, shes great at dual wielding but when it comes to using her bow she is terrible, plus she has the hunter bow bug.

I'm currently traveling with Marcurio. Do far he's the only follower that hasn't ran into every single trap in every dungeon. Plus, he isn't annoying and has somewhat of a personality.

Aela the Huntress is my favorite follower, and one of my favorite NPCs. She kicks just as much ass as I do.

I say none, They always give my position away and run head first into combat and get killed.

This. What's the use of being a stealthy character when you've got some drunken, bearded man running in shouting "For Skyrim!" every five seconds?

Funny. He's my favorite follower, but he does set off almost every trap - while warning me not to...

I fly solo now (save my Dremora) but my all-time favorite is Mjoll as I admire her setting her aspirations a bit higher than being a hunter and that her father (whom she misses) never complained. I also can't believe her mother (who was a strong woman) taught Mjoll sword technique. I cried when she told me that the bandit who ran her brother through with with sword was laughing when he did it. I also admire her ability to live after aborbing a 15x sneak attack that she took by mistake from my 60 damage dagger.

I agree. Key words in the title should not be overlooked "...to have by your side?"

Belrand, because I like the old Nords.

Farkas, because he's a big teddy bear.

The orcs, because they're irredeemably badass.
