Block for a 2 hander?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:42 am

Is there even a point? I have been sinking some perks into it, but now I am wondering if they are wasted because it seems that by the time I block and go to attack again, the enemy is already attacking again. What do you guys think, is blocking useful for a 2H warrior?

Not in my opinion. I only use it on my 2H warrior when I really need to, which isn't often. Though 2handed combat is too slow for me, I dislike it.

the slow time during enemy power attack perk is vital imo. i also found the faster movement perk useful

The only real advantage to 2handed combat is the range. It may seem slight, but that extra .3 range can actually make it really easy to beat down single handed weapon users, and a lot of animals in Skyrim. The sweeping AOE attack is also a really nice feature exclusive to 2handed weapons. It's actually more useful against single targets, because some squirley enemies can be hit easier if you have poor aim.

Blocking, yes, there is a point. It takes a lot longer, but at 100skill and full Shield Wall perks, you can match any shield, the chief difference here is that you don't benefit from blocking equipment. So getting to that point is long, and fairly dangerous.

I don't like two handed. You can get the same power at a faster rate with one handed weapons.

it works well when you dont have enough atack stat value, but then becames more practical just make power atacks that can shake indefinitely

My main warrior build is a 2H weapon fighter. It's great for some really strong attacks, but with a warrior, blocking is only really important early on. If you go 1H combat, though, you can nab some shields which can reduce magic damage as well, in which case, blocking is very worth it. Right now, though, most things go down in a few hits with the right weapons...

Use shield bash before you power attack. You should have enough time.

What I like to do is power attack, get close and bash, then backwards power attack to get my range back with a chance to paralyze.
