I'm looking for info behind Soul Gems, souls and afterlife in Elder Scrolls lore. Some questions/debate topics I have are:

Are actual Souls captured, or is it simply lifeforce/energy/stuff?

Do souls used in weapon recharging make it to the aferlife?

Do souls enter enchanted weapons and armor, or do they just provide the power to enchant weapons and armor?

etc etc.
