Destruction in Dawnguard

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:59 am

I love playing mage, i love destruction, I'm not here to say how underpowered it is but I haven't watched E3 or anything so I was wandering if there were any types of upates to this skill, ANY AT ALL, like new desctruction spells, or changing the damage to the attacks, or making the master level spells more useful. Again it may not be confirmed but has anyone any knowledge on this or opinion? Archers got crossbows, fighters i guess got dragonborne weapons (which I assume are for melee) but has magic got anything offensively?

I hope there are more spells that aren't vamp - lord locked as well, considering we get new armours, weapons and abilities.

One can but hope.

I'm hoping for those combination effects from the GameJam video.

There is conjuration spells but I haven't heard about any destruction which are used besides when you are vampire lord.

I was actually hoping that Beth realized that the scaling for Destruction damage was a bit...off. I couldn't expect them to fix it though as it might require a complete overhaul which might be too much.

I fear that destruction users will get screwed, but then again the whole system is against them. Destruction can't stand on its own merits, it is forced to take multiple magicka reduction perks plus using enchanting to make it remotely useful. Wouldn't surprise me if there were no new spell tomes.

No Dawnguard seems to focus on not improving or fixing magic, which is the worst part of Skyrim as it is useless and has almost no spells compared to older TES games.

Bring back the spells from oblivion and merge them with some of the better looking spells in Skyrim like chain lightning. That is what I want to see. Spell making too.

Gotta be honest, the lack of spells is refreshing for me. I had so many spells on my main character on Oblivion it was ridiculous, a good few of which were just multiple "@"s "A"s and stupid, badly spelt names.

I've found that the other schools of magic, such as illusion, are much more rewarding to play compared to destruction. You should give them a try if you haven't already.

I do miss the old spell effects. Levitation amulet + Helseth's ring + Boots of blinding speed FTW.

i miss levitation also, but i believe that they should probably add some more spells and increase the efficiency of spell casting in the school and make it worth while.

Agreed, my character in oblivion was god-like and that was a pure Mage, if you do anything other than a battlemage or shield Mage in skyrim, you're screwed. I will say that if they bring back spell creation they also need to put the option to delete spells from your inventory, my magic list on teso could almost freeze the game lol

If they make the master spells even more powerful they may actually be capable of killing skeevers. I have no hopes of spellcrafting/ good destruction scaling but am more than happy to try many other builds and cant wait for the dlc.

Destruction probably is hopeless now in terms of getting an update.

destruction damage is sad, and its variation is awful.
