What was your first dragon encounter like? (non-scripted&#03

Not too hard at all.. although I actually really hate it when they attack inside the cities.

With the Deadly Dragons mod, some of them are a real pain in the ass and sometimes not even worth the fight with how powerful some of them are. I remember fighting 2 near Dawnstar.. one was closer to the city, then I ran a bit but only succeeded in running into another one. So, I reloaded the game and killed the first one, then prepared for the next one which turned out to be one hell of a fight. That svcker had me sweating when I finally killed it, then I took a break from the game for a few minutes.

Well ok.. they were a little hard at first, but that was only because I didn't really have any decent resistance against their breath attacks. I don't really remember the fights in details though.

Mine was just really frustrating, as it wouldn't land for ages and kept carpet bombing me with fire.

Funny story actually. The first encounter I bypassed. It was during the Gildergreen (Gildergleam?) quest. I was travelling with Lydia and that devotee from the temple through the volcanic tundra and was just about at the grove, then I noticed the dragon whirling around in a circle a short distance behind it. I though to myself: "No way am I ready to fight that thing at this level", backed off and waited until it landed behind the hill that had the entrance to the grove. At that point the 3 of us went into sneak and slowly approached the entrance. We managed to get in, complete the quest, but then there was the issue of getting out. Me and Lydia went into sneak again, but this time the dragon "thought it saw something" (the eye opened about a third of the way through) and landed like 20 feet to the right of the entrance, facing in the opposite direction, looking for us. I immediately brought up the map and sighed in relief when I found that I could actually fast-travel in that situation. Ha ha ha.

The second time I had fast-traveled to the standing stones between Riverwood and Helgen to change up my sign and "ROAR!!!" the instant the screen loaded. Since the thing had nowhere to land, it hovered over the river just beyond the edge of the cliff. Then it noticed there was a band of Imperials on the road towards Helgen and the fight became really interesting.

Healer vs. Dragon. Ended up having to use a bow I had recently taken from a bandit, as my destruction was still just novice spells and firebolt, which was too slow to hit it. A lot of hiding behind the word wall, a lot of healing, a lot of health and magicka potions, a lot of time. Protip : want to go hunting dragons at lower levels? Don't take two of your first ten perks in speechcraft.

First non-scripted encounter was when I was guiding this guy to help me uncover the Tree to get a new sapling for the Kynareth tree in Whiterun. This was before I found out all quest NPCs were essential, which made the encounter more intense than it actually was for me. Very exhilarating as I did not know at the time that dragons were unscripted in the wild, but as time goes on they have become a lot more lackluster than they once were.

That guy isn't essential. He died on me when he decided to wander off and take on a fort of necromancers on his own. I tried my best to keep him alive, but the death wish was on him.

I remember I was trading with a hunter on horseback on some narrow mountain road and it swooped down, killed the horse and ate the guy :(
