Nerfed bow damage

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 12:01 am

Yesterday my bow daedric bow Soul Reaper did 465 damage. Today it's at 344. Did they nerf it with the patch they released today? Seems pretty stupid considering how much they're hyping this new form of bow that's coming with the DLC.

I definitely noticed a change in difficulty when playing my ranged/stealth character. I stuck with Firniel's End and it's normally able to take down most enemies pretty easily using steel arrows. I've now had to switch to ebony arrows in order to make up the difference, and now I'm looking all over Skyrim for enchanted items that increase damage with bows. :/

They needed to fix bows because they were glitched. Anyway why complain when your bow has the ability to kill most enemies on mastery difficulty in a single hit...

Patch 1.5 disrupted the "display" of the Bow damage. The damage delt was accurate to what it should be. The display, in the inventory, was calculated wrong. Thus, showing a higher damage than what was actually being delt. This was fixed in 1.6.

Are you saying the bow is dealing the same amount of damage as before patch 1.6, just displaying it correctly this time?

My bow skill is at 79 and I have all damage related perks that are available, legendary Ebony bow +enchantment, + Ebony arrows and I don't 1hit anything but Skeevers on Master.

I have not tested the actual damage done to the enemy, with 1.6. It is still in Beta for the PC and I am not participating in that. However, I did test the damage delt, to the damage displayed (in 1.5) and it was wrong. The damage delt should be the same.

EDIT : I'm sorry. So, to answer your question...yes. That is to my understanding.

Obviously, because the enemies I can't kill in a single hit, now take less damage. And how exactly were bows glitched? Across 3 play throughs spanning a total of 600 hours, I never had a problem with them. Regardless, whatever this supposed "glitch" was, I'm sure they could have patched it without ruining one of my character builds.

Well if that's the case, I suppose it's okay. Although I'm pretty sure I remember my bow damage being at 465 before patch 1.5. Obviously, there's no way I can test that so I'll let it go until there's something I can't one shot which I could before. Still, now my bow is weaker than my sword which at 363. Which I don't think should be the case considering my sword attacks much faster.l

Get a Daedric Bow, smith it to be legendary, put two amazing enchantments on it, get daedric arrows. Oh and poison. After that almost everyone might aswell just have the same hp because it takes one shot with related perks for archery and sneak branch skill trees.

Well, it was not a supposed glitch. It was a fact. If you have a Bow that does 20 dng and Arrows that do 10, you should show a combined dmg of 30. The display was calculated wrong and would show 50 dmg (or something close).

You are actually doing less damage to the enemy?

EDIT : Never mind...I seen your other post. Still at 344 base damage, that is over 2K with perks and a Sneak Attack.
