Could a Vampire Join the Dawnguard?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 2:06 pm

Sorry if this has been asked or addressed before, but I'm curious. I'm thinking about playing as a "good" vampire, but do you think such a character would be allowed to join the Dawnguard or would they figure it out and force you to join the vampires? I'm not sure what all has been revealed about this DLC, so if nobody knows, thanks anyway.

No. It would be like the Vigilants of Stendar allowing a Dremora Lord to join.

I hope not. It would just seem counter intuitive. A Vampire hunting organization allowing Vampires to join. What if one of the Vampires they let in was a spy?

Would be pretty dumb to make yourself vulnerable like that.

This hasn't been discussed in any interviews that I'm aware of.

My guess is that you would be able to join as a regular vampire, but if you want to become a vampire lord, you would first need to join the Volkihar, locking you out of the Dawnguard.

In my opinion I think you can join. I don't see why not.

I'm only saying it doesn't make much sense.

Seems silly to let what they are out to destroy into their own faction, I'm guessing you'll have to cure it before they let you in.

Hell, Seridur pulled it off in Oblivion. Except those vampire hunters were a bunch of amateur kids.

thats fair, Bethesda needs more diverging paths IMO. If they should take anything from Bioware, its multiple paths and shades of grey. At best i hope almost every quest in the new dlc or game has atleast 2 outcomes, especially the main quests and faction quests

Do you mean shades of red blue and green?

But yes, I hope there are different outcomes - clearly, there is at least one huge outcome hinted at in the trailer that would seem to make a big difference on the game world.

That would be very lore breaking to say the least vampire hunters (who as the name suggests kill vampires) hanging out with vampires something tells me probably not.

Yes, you can join them, and no one will even comment about you begin a vampire.

This would be ridiculous unless there is some really good quest writing to support it (and Beth isn't known for good writing). However Beth's policy has always been "be whoever you want, do whatever you want" so I wouldn't be surprised if we really could do it.

I love that wee game path.
Get infected early on, hit that quest and turn on Seridur.
Congrats, you've now the skills to hunt the vamps without worry, and make a killing off each pile of dust you bag! :disco:
