With out giving away spoilers, for those who have heard of "the cornered rat" quest, I spoke the character you have to and told him the words I was suppose to how ever he will not open his door. I saw that the quest complete and to talk to him, I hear the unlocks of doors - but pressing e on his door to open it does nothing

Wait it takes him a good 30 second, and you don't open the door, he does.

I don't know if this is the problem, but just wait alittle longer

Its been over five minutes. any thoughts? is it a bug? I have tried reloading the game. is there a console command to force the door open?

Known glitch. Go to UESP Wiki and look for "The Cornered Rat". Should give you the work arounds for consoles and if you are on computer, the cheats to work your way through it. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:A_Cornered_Rat
