Am I the only one who thinks Archery on a Horse is fun but l

Whether it is actually lacking distance or not, it just seems like being on a horse further limits how far you can shoot your arrows.

Other than this, though.. I enjoyed Archery on Shadowmere all day yesterday!

Yeah, I'm getting more and more frustrated with mounted archery as time goes by. The game is doing something screwy with auto-aim. Unless I'm facing the enemy just right on reasonably level ground I waste several arrows. Inevitably, this means the enemy has time to run right up and wail on my horse while I try to sprint away and turn to face them.

I don't have a problem with it. It works for me but I only use bows. maybe just practice?

Well, you have to admit, other than that, it's pretty fun. :D

It's not really practice, it's just the range is shortened a bit.

Are there killcams while on Horse? I've yet to get any so I assume not but I haven't been doing it too much.

You do realize how hard it is to hit something with an arrow while on horseback right.

The Arrow drop is greater while on horse. If you use the bow how you would on foot you won't hit things. Dovahkiin will have to adapt to the difference.

I literally keep my horse still and try to shoot a mammoth at a reasonable range and it goes right through the Mammoth.

JUST the range? I tried horseback archery last night and had to aim far below a target just to hit it.

I spent about 15 minutes killing two frost trolls while on a horse... I went from lv2x archery to lv35 archery in this time. I really dislike how you can't gallop and shoot at the same time, and that you have to turn your horse and face the target in order to even hit them. 1st person view would make the experience so much better and maybe even some epic music that only plays while on a horse. Overal its a nice addition to the game and has influenced me to finally use horses which I found useless before.

I actually can gallop while I shoot on my horse (I play Xbox 360 version) and I don't need to turn my horse, I only need to turn him enough to be able to look in that direction.

I can run and shoot as well. As a matter of fact I kind of like it. I actually find that fun and somewhat accurate to be in a gallop and shoot facing to the side as you pass by. You have to lead the target some but it is quite satisfying. This comes from someone that is not a real fan of the mounted combat system as a whole.

I too can gallop and shoot at the same time, and have had no trouble with aiming at stuff directly to the left or right of me, I have the full frontal 180 degrees to aim at stuff, so not sure what you mean by having to face your horse directly in front. If you mean that you can't shoot at stuff behind the horse, then that would be silly!

You all know that the horse archer range is limited to some stupid distance just like stock archery is.

You can set a long range of arrows in the .ini file. It infuriated me to have my arrows disappear on their way to the target.

Anyways- is everyone sure the range limitation isnt part of the problem here?

If it really is less accurate shooting from horseback, that would be very realistic, to be honest.

If they wanna be really realistic, there should be longer-range bows (long-bows) that are as tall as a man and only usable on foot, and shorter-range bows (compound) that can be shot from horseback but which have less range than the larger bows.

Of course, a really long-range bow would be useless in a one-on-one situation. They're useful when you mass archers and have them shoot at mass formations of the enemy, but one guy trying to shoot somebody else 500 meters away with any kind of bow is a bit unlikely.

It would be easier if you were able to do it in first person, especially with no crosshairs.
