How are Dawnguard beta participants selected?

So I signed up for the Dawnguard beta quite early, how will people be selected? Also, when will they be selected?

My guess would be is they have a set number allowed for the beta then randomly select that many people and i heard they will select the winners next week sometime.

My guess is that the short survey you filled out during the sign up is run through a program that filters what they are looking for in terms of; Harddrive space, Active Live Account, and where you are in the game along with some of the choices you made(i.e. are you playing as a werewolf/vampire?) The program filters down the best prospects for the number of beta codes they have and thats how they are picked. I really doubt someone is actually sitting down and reviewing every single entry, but then again you never know.

What makes you think Beth is going to tell somebody EXACTLY how it works?

We all know as much as you do. Common sense...!

If the participant is most likely to praise it and overlook its many flaws.

I think it will be a combination of a few things
  • Participation on the board
  • What your gaming set up is so they get data under different circumstances
  • When you applied
  • How you act on the board (eg: rude, giving away spoilers)
  • How far you have progressed in the game (Once again they would want data from varied circumstances)
  • How you play
And probably more. With a beta they would want data from as many different variables as possible

I hope it's not mostly on participation on the boards. I just found this site out when I signed up for the Beta.

But I guess we will see when they begin to give out codes. I honestly can't wait, since it seems to be really big.

Yeah, same here. I don't even have a PC, just an iPhone 3G (very old and slow) but after an article from joystiq.com advertised the beta page, I checked out the forums with the Opera Mini browser, and to my surprise there's a mobile compatible version. And it actually doesn't crash my iPhone!

But, same deal as you. I've only been a member for a few days.

The roll of the dice. They are special dice, though, these are Daedric dice. You think you will get a sweet free reward for a small service, but the incessant looking for bugs, picking every flower, trying on every bit of equipment, going through each speech option and walking round the game area borders just because will eat your soul.

Nope, no Daedric Dice, just Todd Howard die, which comes in Todd flavored form, or Todd Howard 'svck mah balls' flavored edition.

I think that the order in which people applied for the beta will factor in as well. The sooner you applied, the better your odds?

Well one it's beta you are agreeing to test the game look for glitches and light errors not skipp around. Play the game but have fun to I will be pissed if the game comes out and it glitches still cause no one took time to report it it's so people get better game exp I just dont want people to just see this as free gaming yay it comes with a responsibility that will be tedious fun as all get out and an amazing experiance but not something a kid can do so have fun but don't forget the point go kill you some vamps/dawnguard!
