No ordinary barber in Dawnguard?

I think you took Todd's saying of "Changing appearance" a bit too literally. I'm sure you'll only be allowed to change hair and warpaint.
Nope. The only things you can't change is gender and race.

Ahhh thank Talos! I will finally be able to get a new doo at last! I dont know how much longer my character could take hiding his ugly mug under a heavy helmet. Wooo!

I hope so, There's no value in your character if you can just change their appearance completely.

I can say I disapprove of this appearance change thing if it allows you to change your Face, Eye color, and Skin/Fur/Scale color. and don't say "You don't like it, don't use it", because if the option benefits you in any way, even if you devote yourself to not using it, it's always gonna be open to you, and there's always a point where you end up using it, this is basically the same thing as Fast Traveling, and Oblivion's duping glitch.
some options are best to be left out, I'd rather not be spoon fed in this category, appeasemant of fans is not always the best way to make your games better.

I'm the kind of person that digs getting really immersed into games, but there's really no reason to have a problem with having a full facial surgeon instead of just a barber.

Yes it's a fantasy game, but Bethesda gives a more realistic feeling to it by giving explanations to things and why they are there, not just putting them in and going with it.
some things just go over the top and seem unacceptable, but in your case, we could have all the animals talk and put laser guns on our Horses, it's all acceptable for a Fantasy game.

I think all it means is change your hair, beard, face paint, and your dirt level I font see it going beyond that.

I don't think they mean change your appearance literally meaning your facial features or your skin color or things like that.

I think it's great that you can tweak your appearance a little... you guys on PC do it all the time "hey look, a new hair mod... lets go into console" lore? who cares... it's trivial and a game

I see your point and echo it. I'd just like a normal barber like the house robots in Fallout 3. However as long as I can change my hair in game I'm not too fussed.

A lot of people WANT an option to change theyre face. It's a video game, and it would make the fans happy. "As far as value in character", thats for the individual to decide. The fans buy the game, a company that takes fan feedback and responds isn't "appeasemant", it's improving your game based on your consumers feedback. A lot of people wanted an option to change appearance later in game and so Bethesda decided to add it. Theres nothing wrong with adding a tiny but greatly appreciated feature to a video game. You don't wanna use it? Great, but I DO, and I'm gonna go ahead and play around with different kinds of looks cuz thats what I and a lotta other people wanna do. Not everyone wants to be locked in permanantly right outta the tutorial. Some people would have loved a second chance to fine tune a character. Doesn't take away value if your making your character look more like the one you envisioned in your head when you made him
