Armour Rating= music not playing

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 12:53 am

Hey guys.

Just a quick question: Ive noticed lately that combat music isnt playing most of the time, most notbaly during dragon fight. I read on UESP that this is due to a glitch related to my armour rating, as im wearing full daedric which has been improved to legendary using a blacksmiths draught so it has QUITE decent protection. When I take it of, sure enough combat music returns. Does anyone know roughly at what point ( a rough number would be nice) does the music stop playing? Ive done a bit of experimenting and it seems to be around 700-800 ish but I cant seem to nail it down.

Regards
Smas

Nope, but I noticed the dragon music stopped on my main character, who also wears full daedric. The moment I realised was, fresh from a dungeon, I was making my way back to markarth in glorious sunshine, picking juniper berries from trees and humming to myself IRL, when I noticed a weird shadow. At first I thought "A butterfly shouldn't make a shadow like that", but then realisation sank in, and I turned around just in time to see the dragon that was hovering above me unleash a gout of flame right into my face.

Nothing quite ruins your day like dragonbreath to the face. The FACE.

If u take it off, then exit to game the music returns and u can put ur gear back on but it gets annoying after the 100th time...

The combat music is playing depending on the armor rating, yes. If you have significantly bigger armor rating than your opponent, the music won't play since it won't be much of a challenge... Try removing the helmet or some other piece of armor which will result in less armor rating and the music shall play again...

I don't think this is a bug, but actual stuff. It would be svcky if music would start playing on a mob which you can own in 1 or 2 hits. :)

Yes it does play or not play depending on the threat/armor rating/your health.

THANK GOD btw, i dont need combat music everytime a wolf comes calling- talk about annoyance.

My armor rating is 819 and music still plays for me... so I don't know.

Yeh i experinced it also, it is according to armor rating. What i would do is to acctually have my armor rating around 500 or below just bc i want a challenge, bc i got tired of it being to easy.

I never realized any of this before. It's actually a pretty brilliant system if you ask me.

Yes but I beleive it should play if an ancient dragon decides to attack me...
So around the 500 mark are you saying?

It's more of a percentage in question than a raw number of armor rating. Depending on what damage the dragon does and how much armor you have - if the game decides the opponent is not challenging for your current armor you're wearing = the music will not play.

For example, I spawned 5 Solitude Guards and after I removed my helmet and shield, the music started playing because they were able to do some serious damage. Before that, I could have kept on receiving hits for an hour...
