As a note i am particularly fond of bridged characters from one game into another.
I'll add my two cents to the pot, wont you? Pretty please?

And yes i know how utterly fanboyish this is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm trying to justify that my argonian character is the same individual as from my oblivion game but due to the fact that argonians have relatively human lifespans a had to do a bit of playing around. I concocted a story which takes place some time after the oblivion crisis, in which my character, who's name is Kraven, was leading an extermination force to wipe out any deadra left behind after the closing of the oblivion gates, as well as the remnants of the mythic dawn. During one of the forces raids on a MD hideout Kraven was weilding the skull of corruption (for a reason i haven't yet determined) and when a MD necromancer attacked him with an experimental death spell (totally original name, lol)
he used the staff as a kind of shield in a reflexive response. when the spell hit the staff, the staff activated, copying Kraven, but the spell's effect also transferred through the staff and Kraven, delivering the spell's full effect into the copy which in turn died.
are ya' still with me? if so here's were the iffy part comes into play (iffy meaning that i'm not sure if it conflicts with any pre-existing lore)
The skull of corruption, not meant to be used as an anti-magic shield, is destroyed and sent back to it's creator (forget which prince gives you the skull of corruption in oblivion), Kraven, being in the middle of the magical circuit is effected by the spell, but not entirely so. what has happened is that my character is now - in a sense - halfway between living and undead, thus he can no longer die by natural means (aging, disease, etc.). after this the raid ends and although Kraven is somewhat confused, he goes on to out live any friends and family he has and by the time the events of skyrim are set in motion he has renamed himself Prisoner so as to symbolize his nearly immortal state and how it has made him a prisoner in his own body. to make it seem a little more thorough i used the milky white/blue glowing eyes for him this time around so as to play into the whole undead thing.
