Dawnguard beta and cloud storage

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 12:59 am

Okay, so I applied for the beta. And today I'm going out of town for about a week. If I'm accepted, I want to be able to play the beta with my character at home. If I move my home character save to cloud storage, will I be able to download it on another xbox and be okay?

Also, if I redeem the beta code on the xbox away from home, and I return home, will I be able to re-download the beta on my home xbox?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, if you put your character on cloud, you can move them to another 360.

Don't know about the Beta, but since it is a real DLC, I think you can

Thanks. And yeah, since DLC is now tied to gamertags instead of consoles, I'm hoping that is the case.

Downloading something from Xbox Live for the first time also downloads a unique "license" for that content, for that Xbox. If you are going to download the beta, I would suggest downloading it on your own Xbox. Downloading it on another, even with your profile, will download the license to that Xbox. When you redownloaded it to your own Xbox, you would only be able to play it with your profile, and only while connected to Xbox Live, unless you did a license transfer, which you can only do a limited number of times per year. It's meant to stop people from giving their friends unlimited free content.

But to answer your question, yes, you would be able to move your save to cloud storage and play it on another Xbox, but as I said, when you redownloaded it for your home Xbox, you would only be able to play it with your profile, and only while connected to Live. As long as you are ok with doing a license transfer though, you should have no problems.

Details on license transfers can be found here. It's not very diffficult.

All in all though, it would be much simpler to just take your Xbox with you wherever you plan on going. Or wait until you get back to download it.

Aaagh. But I can't wait! Haha.

And what if I am signed in with my GT on another xbox when I download it, then come home and download it to that xbox on the same GT? I would not have to do the license transfer, correct?

Thanks for giving that info. That scares me a bit since there are rumors that the new consoles will lock games to a single console preventing renting games altogether...

The DLC itself will be tied to your gamertag, and you would be able to access it in your download history and redownload it on any Xbox as many times as you like, but the license will still be tied to the first Xbox 360 you download it on. You would still need to do a license transfer in order to be able to use the DLC offline or with any other profiles on your Xbox.

Thank you for clearing that up :)
