Was wondering what the fist race was out of the races you can chose from and play as.

I believe Altmer claim to be right after Aldmer so probs Altmer(but who likes them anyway)

Altmer are fine, its just the Thalmor that you need to worry about.

none. they all are descendants of the first race. in fact i dont think cannon wise there is any proof of their being a "first" race but there was this race of beings before the ayleids who i think would be the oldest race maybe not the first. maybe someone more in touch with the lore can tell you.
never mind just looked at the context of your question more clearly.....i think it might be the altmer.

Very few don't come off as pompous a$$es even if they aren't Thalmor and that is my grief.

Khajiit and Argonian don't really have a set existence period, they kinda always lived in their provinces.

Dunmer, Orsimer, and I believe Bretons all evolved/changed/morphed due to some kind of event/racial process

Imperials/Redguards/Nords all decended from early Humans, which came after elves

Wood elves are kindof in the same boat as the Altmer, though not nearly as old

So yeah, I'd say the Altmer are the oldest existing race. I also believe they live the longest, eg. 1000 years without magic life enhancement.

The Hist originated the Argonians.

The Ehlnofey originated all other humanoids. There isn't really a way to determine which is older.

What about khajiit? I know that there's a theory that they descended from the mer but... there's little evidence of that as far as I know.

The Khajiit are former men who were transformed into their current forms.

IIRC they were elves who were changed by Azura.

I thought the one that Azura change are the chimers into dunmers.
