Okay good job with horse combat, we need some good horses no

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 9:10 am

The stable bought horses are pathetic, they can't even take 2 hits from a giant, given they aren't affected by the difficulty slider that's too weak.

Now we have shadowmere, which is a massive step up, huge health regeneration so she can take a beating. But my good characters don't want to be an assassin, so I'm stuck with the wimpy store bought horses.

I'm really enjoying horse combat, fantastic addition to the game IMO and I can't wait to try out crossbows. So hopefully this new flaming horse will be separate from the 'evil' questline and can take a few hits.

They fixed that, dood. They've already displayed the conjure horse spell in dawnguard previews. The real question is: How long does the conjured horse last?

Normal horses aren't fat, suicidal, and you don't control them in first person. There is a lot wrong with them.

Hang on -
How about different varieties of horses?

For instance: if you want a really strong, 'jousting' horse, you should be able to purchase a Clydesdale.
If you want a horse that has sprinting ability, you should be able to get an Arabian quarterhorse breed.
If you want a horse that can keep up a quick pace (but not a sprint) over a long distance, maybe a crossbred breed that looks like a Paint/Pinto out of the American West.

Each stable should have a selection - some stables more than others. The interactions with the stablemaster would become more interesting as he tries to sell you different kinds of horses with differing temperaments and abilities.
In fact, they should even have mules for hauling cargo.

I see a DLC opportunity, gents......

It might be weak, and only last 60 seconds, we have no idea. I want a proper horse that can take a hit and doesn't charge into battle.

Edit: 'chickenkungfu', Yes that sounds brilliant.

It would be nice. Red dead's horses were unreal. It would be great if Skyrims were improved.

Go beyond having multiple kinds of horses. What about donkeys and mules?

Why would it only last 60 seconds? Most of my horse adventures last longer than 60 seconds, that would just svck!

It's the staple time for conjuration summons, augmented by perks to 120, then dual casting.

I don't know this for fact, I'm just saying its a possibility.

I can barely take one hit from a Giant and Im at level 35.

The fact that my horse can take two or three is pretty good

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to be one of those people who is always like "Wow you svck." I'm just curious. Is your character a mage of theif or someone who can't take a couple hits? If so, this is understandable. But usually around level 35, with a warrior, you can take more than a few hits.

He's dead so I'm guessing everytime he dies, you can summon him again?!

It's not a "conjure horse" spell. It's a horse you find in the Soul Cairn, if you find/do the right side quest and after some stuff I don't know, you get the horse Arak or something I think its name is, and the ability to summon it from the Soul Cairn, no matter where you are.

Considering the original post mentioned not wanting to be an assassin and generally wanting to have a goodie-two-shoes character, I seriously doubt the summoned horse will be of any interest given that... well he pretty much looks more evil than Shadowmere.

Then again, maybe he's just misunderstood. But being a demonic-looking flaming horse could easily cause some confusion I suppose...

My current character couldn't be more of an evil psychopath, he can't wait to try out this new undead horse or kill the innocent in the vampire lord form.

But my next character will be 'good' and use light armor, crossbows and 2h weapons. He will also be a werewolf so I can try out the perk tree, he's the one who will struggle with horse combat due to weak horses.
