Destroy the brotherhood Alternate

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 10:51 am

The destroy the brotherhood questline was..lackluster in my opinion,Im not complaining really I love skyrim but I just had an idea to share with my fellow fourm users and hopefully Bethesda
(Please pardon any spelling errors)

so after destroying the sanctuary commander maro pays you,and you leave
a few days later a courier appears with a note to meet him again in dragonsbridge the note says "we aren't done"
(mourning never comes is activated when speaking to muri who is furious that you destroyed the brotherhood preventing her contract from being done, then you can offer to kill alain, and convince the shater-shields to accpet muri gain)

So Maro informs you that there is still a brotherhood presence being led by a "Cicero" but this can be delt with later

you then set out to stop all of the brotherhoods contracts, maro has you follow his son to kill the assassin and find the forged letter showing the ultimate goal of the brotherhood...kill the emperor (cicero had the dawnstar sanctuary and began recruiting then motiere contacted him with the job)

you then go and stop all the assassin at the wedding, (the arhcer or gargoyle pusher) then protect the gourmet (talk to to markarth cook and inform him of the brotherhoods goal)

then you are assigned to guard the fake emperor and (optional:fail to protect the decoy and catch the killer) kill the assassin retriving the note that reveals the location ot the sanctuary "kill the emperor and be rewarded well, then return home and use the phrase innocince my brother at the black door"

after reporting to maro he,you, and some other agents attack the sanctuary(not burn it out) and cicero flees to kill the emperor taking the last of his brothers with him, then you board the emperors boat kill the assassins and cicero.
the grateful emperor Titus mede the second then gives you one final task:kill amond motire and retrieve the brotherhoods payment of 10,000 gold from volunrund

Last but not least you get to rennovate the dawnstar sanctuary and change the banners to a different faction (like the companions) use it as a home and have pentilous oculous agents follow you (and somthing creative about the night mothers coffin could be added)

Please give me your feedback

(and to anyone in Bethedsa this idea could be some free content don't you think?)

So ... in other words play the other side of all the DB quests? Be nice I guess.

I still want to play the Silver Hand and take out those dang werewolves in Jorrvaskr.

I suppose the rationale for such a lackluster quest was that it was never really intended to be a major questline. The writers probably figured that fans of the Dark Brotherhood would want a long and immersive quest, and those who dislike it (like me) would just want to eradicate the plague and be done with it. There's still the Companions, the Mage's College, and the Thieves' Guild, as well as the civil war and the main quest. And gobs of dungeons and miscellaneous bits and other stuff I left out. So I'm not feeling short-changed.

I'm thinking it is because they don't want the brotherhood destroyed but still allow you to fight them. If it was expanded you would end up killing Cicero and Babette and end the brotherhood. The current way allows the brotherhood to survive into the next game without having conflicts with what occurred in your personal game. The quest line idea you have for yourself seems pretty interesting though.

Only problem I see is that the payment was 20,000 not 10,000.

not to sound mean, but really what more could be done? You pretty much kill everyone and stop them from expanding. Sometimes things are simple.

Two problems

1. If you protect the gourmet, then there's no assassin to kill the Decoy, because it's the real Gourmet this time.

2. if Vittoria Vici survives, then the Emporer has no reason to come to Skyrim. That was his main incentive to come, as it was to be viewed as an attack by the Stormcloaks.

It could work, but like someone pointed out, there are some plot-holes in terms of the assassination plot.

I just wish there was actually more to it. Like, more than just clearing out the Sanctuary.

Some people are just never satisfied. Sure, it could be batter, but it gets the job done. Having the option at all is good enough for me. Sheesh.

I like your idea.

They should add a "Clean-up Riften" option to the thieves guild quest as well.

Would love for more to go to that quest, but it still is my favorite.
I never actually knew you could destroy the Dark Brotherhood until the Idea popped in my head (What if I killed Astrid in the Shack instead?)
exciting moment for me because I can't stand being evil but enjoy extinguishing it.

For a moment there i thought this was in the game, then i re-read the first sentance... Then cried inside after realising it was not.

This... Is... Amazing and SHOULD be in the game, calling the original quest lackluster is a compliment imo, i thought it was insanely disappointing that after killing most of the DB that you would just get a 'thank you' and some gold.... I JUST WIPED OUT A SANCTUARY OF SOME OF THE MOST FEARED KILLERS IN SKYRIM AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME?!

I really really really really hope someone from Bethesda takes a look at this thread.

This is completely irrelevant. What does America have to do with killing the dark brotherhood?

Back to the OP, there are flaws in the questline that you posted, but if those could be fixed I would love a questline like that. Although I would never do it because I always join the brotherhood :)

Should ther not be a spolier ALERT on this thread!

I would think that detailed spoilers for a questline should not even be posted in a forum that says "DO NOT POST SPOILERS IN THIS BOARD!" right at the top.

I reported it and hopefully this will be moved to a more approrpriate forum like maybe the "Cheats Hints and Spoilers" forum. I wish it was there before I spoiled myself.

(If it is moved, please note that it is in the Skyrim General, at the time of this post).

Not much to spoil imo, lol.

Now this thread will be left to gather dust... Seriously this is a good idea >< the current story in place is terrible.

I got a little excited at first because I thought what you were describing was in the game and somehow the courier hadn't found me yet and there was more to the quest.
Then I realised that that was really it
