elder scrolls with no limitations?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 8:00 am

ok so say bethesda came up to you and told you that there was no limitations in making the next TES. so any thing you came up with they could do it. there would be no bugs to worry about, you wouldn't have to worry about disc size,or any thing at all that you normally would have to think about when it come to making a game like TES. not one problem what so ever.

so say you wanted to make the next game 32 square miles insted of skyrims 14.3 square miles and that they could still do the same level of detail as skyrims 14.3 but with your 32.

so my question is if they came up to you and said all that what would you want them to do to the game IYO that would make it the greatest TYES ever ?????

I'd definitely hire MK again.
I'd also settle in Elsweyr with all the forms of Khajiit.
Put a lot more time in the story and lore
Make complete unique quests appear based on your actions (let's say for instance you kill a few woman at night and get away with it, guards will start looking for the murderer, and then you can offer help and perhaps even falsely accuse someone of the murders and have them arrested)
Make cities recognize you based on previous entries into the city, or general fame
Make people recognize your armor as based on factions and be hostile or friendly towards you because of it
More Lore
More Guilds with more and deeper quests
The ability to once you are the master of a guild actually set and change policies.
More guilds that are exclusive from each other, so you can't join them all
Guilds that become available or get closed down after a certain point in the main quest or other guild quests
No more essential NPC's
No more leveled enemies, make some regions very hard and some very easy depending on where you are in the game
More attention to local lore
No prophecy to guide you through
Pissing contests between Daedric princes preventing you from fighting for them all in one game.
Oh and more attention to the lore

i would make the game be 2 times the size of skyrim
have it also be in elsweyr

have the voice actors record as much dialog as there was in morrowind but even more. so they would always have some thing new to say instead of the same things over and over again. have it based off what going on in the world. what i've done, and also depending on if they like me or not .

have cities feel and look like the size of real cities. imo there should be 4 or 5 sections to each city. each section of the city would be the size of what cites are now. so say each section in whiterun would be the size of the whole of whiterun. 1st section would be out side the city where there would be stuff set up like the stables and maybe a few other things. then the 2nd section would be the market district. then the 3rd would be the midle clas type section where its basicly all homes. the 4th district would be the rich/ chaple district where the chaple and hall of the dead and stuff like that and all the rich peoples manors and mansions would be. and the 5th would be the palace district.

all faction quest would be as long as main quest or at least pretty damn close
way more styles of armor and clothing

factions would work like they did in morrowind. where you have to actually be good in that factions skill set to advance. once you get to a certain partn in a faction other factions become unjoinable, or at least you can't continue any further past a certain point.

have way more spells and return some spell from past games like mark and recall, levitate, water walking, divine intervention and so on. also a lot more conjuration spells. more destruction type skills like say earth and wind. earth would work like you have parts of the ground come up and fling some one in the air, or make the ground cave in. wind would work like say kinda like the unrelenting force shout or say you could cut some one with a really concentrated thing of air.

athletics and acrobatics have to return even if they have to be put together as the same skill.
you should have to be able to find loot that can be better than any thing you can make in smithing.
working boats.
see boats and ships going up and down rivers and stuff like that.
see carrages and more people on horses and just more people on the roads.
more people in the cities so they feel more alive.

if there was any big battles like the civil war quest i would want there to be like 50-60 maybe even 70 or 80 people on screen at one time.
an archaeologist guild where you would dig up old ruins through out Elsweyr

and thats all i can think of at the moment

i would have all of mundas and oblivion, the lore would be visible and everything will be well written. it would have spell creation, every one of hircine's hounds, every deadra (evne princes), every dearic realm, atherius, every spell effect from the past, every skill from the past, every attribute and so on.

here is the best part, it would have dynamically made quests and charaters (so one day you might be facing a manimarco wanna be and then the next you could hear about a cult attempting to assasnate the emperor) and the player would litterally create their own story (if your goal was to destory mundas you could do anything lore-friendly to get to that end, if you wanted to stop some big bad you could, i you wantd to explore atherius you could try to find a way, if you wanted to become a god you could, you could help that cult destory the empire [or start it, if you want] or you could join that mannimarco wanna be [or even be that wanna be, or even join the real mannimarco], the list is endless!)

"i you wantd to explore atherius you could try to find a way"

with that part could start asking around where ever you were on nirn or where ever you were. and then once you find one persopn he could be like well you need to go to high rock for that one. then once you find the person in high rock they would tell you every thing they knew then tell you that the know of some one who knows even more than they do. so then you would start opff again so where ever that person sends you.

and by the way i like your whol idea there voice of reason.

Having actual mundane conversations with EVERY NPC out there. Tired of walking past someone who tells me about their morning breakfast, but if they aren't really important no dialogue comes up. That's another thing NPCs don't tell me about their morning toast, we're strangers we just met. I miss Oblivion's, "Good day" or "Good evening". That is really cool. Tell me about your breakfast is not if I don't know who you are.

Next Choices matter.

Also since I played New Vegas, I like the idea of each town or village with a reputation of who they think you are.

Companions whom you can actually talk to without feeling like you have a brain dead zombie behind you. What I mean by this is if you finished a quest, you could ask them what they thought about the result of the quest. You could ask them about their past, ask them if they have family from time to time.

Also no hand helding. I think the best RPG out there right now is the Witcher 2. Sure they do have a quest marker to say go here, but other than that once you land in the area gotta find the object on your own. Combat is about thinking strategically about how you're going to deal with this situation. Also they have some characters whom I feel are human enough. Not mindless zombies.

yeah i love NV companions compaired to skyrims. in skyrim they prety much have no background story at all where as nv companions can some times tell you there whole life story which is really awesome. and i think that in the next TES game that they really need to improve upone the companions and insted of having a whole [censored] load of people to chose to be companions they should make only a few people in the game that you could have as a companion.

I personally like the whole buttload of people. Because then you could have many different playthroughs with different companions. Instead of the same five or ten.

Entirety of the Aurbis. Not just mundus, but each plane of oblivion, the moons, the plane(t)s, Aetherius, Outer Realms. Sunbird travel. Fleshed out characters. Daggerfall scaled provinces and cities. Bring back spellcrafting and the missing spells/schools. Return the missing skills(Bring back my climbing to meeeeee) and attributes. Even Languages. Have Eric Heberling and Jeremy Soule work together on the music. I miss Heberling's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZPAEoE81wk and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf78NWrFuhE influences in the music. Completely destructible world environment. The ability to create as well(Whether buildings, settlements, weapons, anything). Politics and culture need to be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBbRjvf1kPI.

yep no limits what so ever hell you if you wanted to you could remake skyrim to be 1,000,000 square miles and it would still work out perfect and that would just be skyrim you could still have the whole planet of nirn to. imagen going from anvil to bravil when its like 1,000,000 square miles. that would be awesome and rediculess at the same time.

you know that part in oblivion with mozoga where the count is telling you about the cabin way down the road that its about a 6 hour walk??? well in this game it actually would or could if you wanted it to be a 6 hour walk.

thats just saying if any one actually wanted it to be that big.

oh and there should also be some kinda of climbing mechanic to some thing along the lines of assassin's creed. so imo it would work like this.

you would most likely have to be wereing light armor so it would be under the stealth skills.

or actually not sure if it would even be a skill but i could see it being one.

you would be able to climb pretty much any thing. or lets say if it is a skill there would be perks for being able to climb different things.

so you could climb houses, the walls to the cities but once you get to the top of the wall you would go into a loading screen just like if you were to go throught the gate. climb up parts of moutain that are to steep to walk up, and also you would be able to climb up cliffs and maybe even trees. and you could climb up a tree and jump to another and so on.

bring back acrobatics,levitation,mark/recall,climbing,different basic attacks for combat, all the weapon types, cliffracers, sleeping outside, killing npcs i want to, medium armor, multiple summons, bound armor, armor types that were introduced before (wolf/bear furs, dreugh, adimantium, stahlrim maby as a rare set) , ancient weapons just for flavor, different vampire types with different abilities, games that take place in more then one province, skill requirments for guild ranks, something similar to the great house systems, player ships, more of the old artifacts, chargeable enchanted items, make constant effect items rare again, weapon and armor durability, old skills that got condensed, speed stat, athletics, better story, wereboars, massive land to go through, more sets that had ten pieces, layerable clothing and armor, stringholds, spellcrafting, enchanting on the fly, alchemy on the fly, politics, settlement development, quests with doubt as to what the right thing to do is, companions (but able to have them level up like the player does and have control over it to some extent), reputation, by massive land i ment be bigger then daggerfall(which was bigger then england), better hairstyles, and stats.

now for what id like to see that wasnt in elder scrolls different languages(we have only seen deadric/tamrailic, dragon script and dwemer) racial subtypes, half races(refference books all you want a mer/man child could well have pointy ears or green, gold, or blue skin) more creatures that are fantasy in nature, horses that are fast enough to make me want to buy them, more generic dialog form npcs, bring back the old dunmer voice (the fact that a race can genetically alter and all their voiceboxes just sound different is a horrible retcon), no more retconning, again no more retconning(if you wrote something and all your creativity is gone then hire new writers or lore buffs that like the stuff that was put down and speculated for for a few decades) if bethesda retcons the fans get to hang whoever called the shots on that one, things that dont break immersion, the hist, jewels being worth more, rare treasures that are just worth alot of money and could have little quests or stories tied to them, quests for the aedra, more religions having power in the series(similar to tribunal but accoring to each regions beliefs) black marsh and elsweyr for the next game(people generally lumped the two races together anyways, why not do both provinces keep both the beast races fans happy and swamp and dessert would be good varity as opposed to one or the the other for a whole game) molag bal, nemeria, nocturnal based expansions (allready seen sheogorath:Shivering ilses, azura:morrowind main quest, hicrine:bloodmoon, merhunes dagon:oblivion main quest, clavis vile possible in dawnguard as he delt with vampires of cyroldiil and thats the kind that was in skyrim), new in game lore books(alot not just a few dozen and cover events in the past games in more then one book) druid like class(that could bend the trees(would be good for valenwood game) or could summon weather effect based off of the weather, turn wood to iron) more of the old dnd system brought to modern standards not less and less for more action(just more stuff that could be done, wishes, djinn, godhood, emntal abilities, shifting the landscape, shapeshifting, climbing, wall scaling, breaking doors/chests, carrying objects like rocks or such, burning wood, comanding armies, party systems(could easily be npc followers) things with no purpose other then immersion, ect with no limit on what can be thought up) , new birthsigns as constiliations look different on other sides of equator, more akaviri weapons, the other races of nirn, the other lands of nirn, maby another playable race (we added orsinium and highrock as provinces in daggerfall why not more), more story on vivic or the champions of old games that could still be alive like the nerevarine(could see the corpus going wrong after a long time and nerevar being crazy hulking mass of flesh with crazy loot) , and idk fishing been poles in games forever when do we get to fish( i mean realisticly there are alot of games that have it with very different systems, i just dont see how its been left out, i dont even like to fish and it bugs me its not there but there are fishing poles????? just put it in)

oh you should also be able to burn a house down or accedently start a house or some building on firew if you happen to be fighting some one inside and you use a fire spell. and you should also be able to put the fire out with a frost spell or some thing. and oh yeah i also want to be able to burn down a forst down. stuff like that

just thought of some thing when ever you hit some one with a blade you would be able to see the cuts or if you threw a fire spell at them there would be burn marks on there skin or if there wearing just cloths then it should burn off as well. so if your a necromancer and say you cut there head off there body would start walking around with out the head. or part of there clothes should be ripped and torn up.you should be able to raise more than 1 undead at a time. and they should stay raised as long as you want them to be or until they die again.

so you could just raise every person you kill and just amass an army of the dead dead and just storm a city to add to the ranks. you would also be able to have as many compainions as you wanted.

and at the same time if you were to start going around to every city and killing every one and adding them to your army. then some where else some one else would want to try and kill you and stop you from killing every one. so they would gather up there own army to stop you. so at random points while your walking to the next city or village an army could start charging at you and and massiv battle would start. and this could happen a bunch of times until you were able sucsesfully kill every one in tamtiel except for the few people that you kept alive as your companions.

so does any one else like my idea???? pleas respond to this one i really want to know now what every one thinks about this idea and if they want to put in there own ideas into it to make it even better.

Return to V - Skyrim
