Dwemer In TES?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 3:16 am

I see a lot of people saying they do not want them in Skyrim and I could understand why. They died a long time ago and bringing them back as playable characters or a group of them being alive in the current time line of Skyrim would make no since at all. But that being said they could still be in a TES game in the future. In the waking nightmare quest you go back in time. I could see a quest, entire DLC or a whole new game where you travel to a time when the Dwemer were still alive or even made an appearance as spirits. I do not know enough about the lore of them to know how this could work but I do not see why it would be impossible.

If you know more about the history of the Dwemer, like or dislike my idea I would really appreciate your prospective on the matter. Please just don't say no I don't want it so it shouldn't be in. Let me know why. This is just something I have noticed being mentioned on this forum and was not understanding why people were so quick to shoot down the idea.

Thank You.

They didn't exactly die.

I like it the way it is, with just their ruins remaining. It reminds me that all things end and makes me appreciate the Dwemer culture more than I would if they were actually walking around again suddenly.

Since Skyrim proved without a doubt that time travel is possible, there is a chance of seeing them in future games. However, part of the appeal is that we know so little about them.

Nope keep them the way it is, an ancient advanced civilization that dissapeared. If anything they should do something about the Psijic Order.

they didnt die out, you wouldnt have to go back in time to see them (or at least that wouldnt be the only way), and theres a living dwarf in morrowind.
should probably lore it up a bit

snip
"Kagrenac was devoted to his people, and the Dwarves, despite what you may have read, were a pious lot-he would not have sacrificed so many of their golden souls to create Anumidum's metal body if it were all in the name of grand theater. Kagrenac had even built the tools needed to construct a Mantella, the Crux of Transcendence."

Okay. So now everyone can stop posting about where the Dwarves went. I TOLD YOU EIGHTY YEARS AGO.

Filthy with it, I am.

In other words, they tapped into the Heart of Lorkhan with Kagrenac's tools (Sunder, Keening, Wraithguard) and became the skin of thier walking god, Numidium (The Brass Tower).

They did not die.

We pretty much know what happened to them. Not much more to find out. If anything they will give what little info we don't have in the MMO.

Agreed, I like the mystery surrounding Dwemer.

the Psijic order on the other hand would be a nice thing to expand on

Well except Numidium is kinda erased from existence...

But who knows how Dwemer god-machines work...

They are gone from all realms. Travel back in time will make no difference. They are gone in the past as well. Such was the power of Kagrenac's tools.

How would you feel if you pulled an Artifact-esq return to a time of the Dwemer Zenith, not to play in indefinitely but snippets where you find about some other mysteries, namely the Falmer. -NOT- the disappearance of the Dwemer, we're not really gonna touch that. but more along the lines of getting glimpses of their workings.

There's a lot of foreshadowing provided in Skyrim itself, surprised the speculation died so quick...well....useful/right speculation anyway

The Dwemer did not die, per se. In fact, if you dig into the lore, you see that the attempted to "build" a god, whom they called Numidium. Numidium was a Brass Golem, and appropriately named the Brass God. When Numidium was activated, it disappeared along with the Dwemer. I remember reading somewhere, and I know this is somewhere in a book in Skyrim, that Numidium is "wreaking havoc well into the fifth era".

It has been heavily suggested throughout the TES games what happened to them, and i prefer them to stay a mystery.. it would rather ruin much of the game if you're trying to explore the marvels of the ancient dwemer.. for NPCs to get in your way complaining about thing in there knee.
Plus if they did ever bring them back, they would very quickly have to find an excuse as to HOW they got back, and then as to why they aren't making more technological advances and having rifles everywhere.

-edit- Also there is one who survived who claimed he visiting the outer realms at the time, so it would suggest that whatever happened only effected the Dwemer in this realm..

I think most knowledge of them comes from Morrowind -makes sense considering they seemed to be mainly based at red mountain-, where there is a small quest from Archmage Trebonius -i think his is name- who cant be bothered to get you to do anything proper. And its during MW where you can meet Yagram Bagarn

Daedric Prince Hermaeus Mora or Xarxes would be the most likely to be the one's to fill-in or correct the lore of what is written... So a DLC or Questlines...

just m2c...

Play Morrowind, and the side quest in the College of Winterhold. But, for those of you who need some hand holding, here is a Word of God quote.

1 issue, as the dwemer are now the Numidium, they are now a time ignoring giant stompy bot. Time to the Numidium means nothing, as every time it walks, time itself shatters.

This question is asked so often, I practically have my responses saved to a word document. So, excuse my rudeness.
