Real Knights Templar

just wondering, i might try to build a character based off of the real world Knights Templar, not the Templars from Fantasy universes, and want to know, which perks and weapons are needed? Heavy armor is a must obviously.

Armour:
For the most part, mail was preferred under surcoats. Thus Light armor would be a better choice than Heavy.
A very select few advanced their armament to plate (hvy) in later years to better protect them from the new-found effectiveness of crossbows in the hands of peasants. Mail was woefully poor at stopping bolts.

Weaponry:
The couched Lance was prominent. Secondary weapons were, for the most part, one-handed.
Whilst some wielded war hammers, most stayed with their one-handed preference: sword/mace/axe.

That said, if you don't want fantasy, Light armor with shield and preferred one-handed weaponry would set you in the right direction. If you wish to roleplay your character advancing through the ranks/ages, perhaps they could switch to Heavy/2-Handed in the latter stages.
Hope that helps

Take a look here:

http://www.knight-test.aspery.com.au/armour/knight-templar.php

As has already been said - basically chain mail under a surcoat plus helmet, & a broadsword & shield.

So for your build - light armour & helmet with your choice of one handed sword & shield.

Heavy armour as represented in the game was developed after the Knights Templar order had ceased to exist (it was suppressed and persecuted in 1307 and finally disbanded by the Pope in 1312). So a light armour more representative of the chain mail would be a better choice, as others have said.

If you want to model your character on the historic order then you should develop your trading skills more than your combat skills. The Templars were very, very good at making money and had many more members involved in commerce than in combat. Though sworn to individual poverty, the order became immensely rich and were the first international financiers in the Western World. It was, of course, their wealth that led to the Templars destruction.

ok, i can see the light Armor being used most, but also, what side of the "Civil War" would they be on.

(plan to model him after the warrior branch of the Templars, not the whole organization, and maybe Imperial for the race)

i would assume a Knight Templar would join the empire if based in the beginning of the order, and the Stormcloaks if when the Templars were destroyed.

and which other perks would the Templars have if they were in this game?

just wondering because i may try this http://skyrimcalculator.com/#83561, and want to know what to add to get to lvl 50

also thinking of this http://skyrimcalculator.com/#83811, though this is not a Knights Templar build, it works as a knight following the ideal of the order, if that makes sense.

to be honest, the second build ^ is more like a templar who went into hiding, had children and that child grew to want to be like his father
