A way to go through the College of Winterhold without using

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 2:15 am

I wished not to use magic at ALL on this character, but i needed to go through the College of winterhold to get some of the shouts and a mask, and finish a side quest, and the only place you truly need to use magic is during Tolfdirs tutorial.. however im on console and i figured out that if one the 3 students die by any means then Tolfdir will not continue with his tutorial and instead move on to the next quest.. what i want to know is, is there any way to kill one the 3 students without it being considered murder? Or at the very least without anyone catching me? (Preferably without actually murdering them first-hand though..)

Why don't you try using the spellbreaker to cast the ward and see what happens? That technically doesn't count as using magic.

If you don't know the spell he teaches it to you automatically before he casts the fireball at you.. im slightly OCD and it would annoy me with my character knowing a magic spell xD

Doesn't he just give you a tome? You don't have to use it. And besides, you already know at least two spells to begin with.

Entrance test depends on your most skilled school. My test was "healing hands" because I use restoration a lot.

I found it hilarious in oblivion that I could be an Orc and never use magic and become the arch-mage. The same goes for the thieves guild, it was never mandatory to sneak.

Shouts also work, if you mean the quest I think you do, and are not actually magic despite being classed as such for game-mechanic purposes, so even in that case a spell is not required. My stealthy archers, in fact, used FusRoDah to pass that point, since neither of them was using magic of any sort but needed access to said location for a certain side quest.

Yeah my warrior char did it through melee and gained entrance by using the shout. It was a heck of a lot easier with my Warrior than my current mage at the moment :)
