Whenever I try to get someone as a follower, they tell me I have somebody with me. But right now I am currently looting the body of my latest follower.

Maybe they heard about what happened to your previous follower?

Yeesh, never heard of that bug, sounds nasty. I had a similar problem with the stray dog, but it showed back up again... Reload an old save maybe?

@DK3443 I kind of did a save sweep before I knew the glitch had occured.

i had a similar bug in fallout new vegas where they said i had a follower with me but then minute before i said to my follower that he should leave,

ON TOPIC: i never had that bug in skyrim so i can't help you

Fast travel and see if that follower meets up with you. Fire them. They might stay where they are for three days before returning to where you found them, but it will display a message in the upper left.
