http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1371060-no-kinect-update/
As of the time of writing this is still the case. My copy of the game simply will apply the kinect update. While I am frustrated by this, I understand that this is possibly a regional issue due to the language dependent nature of the update.
However, the reason I have started a new thread is that I am now having the same issue with the 1.6 update. I was eagerly awaiting this update thanks to the bug fixes and new features, particularly the new horseback combat. Again I booted up my copy of Skyrim, assuming that since every update up to 1.5 had worked this one would too.
The short answer is it didn't. I get no option to update Skyrim with the 1.6 patch upon loading it. The game simply refuses to update with the new patch. I am, needless to say, disapointed. Without knowing the reasoning behind this issue, or even if others are suffering from it, I do not wish to start casting blame or throwing around wild accusations.
I am assuming that the reason for the lack of an update is tied to the lack of the Kinect update. Having looked at the patch notes I have noticed that this patch fixes some issues with the Kinect update. Is the kinect update necessary for this update to work correctly?
I would like to know if anyone else is having this same issue. As I stated in the previous thread, I am living in Japan and am using an asian copy of the game on a Japanese 360. My Xbox Live account however is a UK account and I have access to the UK game and price listings. In the previous thread it appeared that this issue was effecting people in non native english speaking countries.
Any clarity on this issue would be greatly appreciated. I am eagerly anticipating Dawnguard but I am also worried that it will not work correctly without the necessary updates applied to my copy of Skyrim.
Thanks all for your time and effort in reading this wordy post.
