As i recall, sometime before the Dawnguard trailer was released, files under the label 'DLC 01' had been found in a patch update that showed files about a Snow Elf prince and his animations. The Snow elf Prince however, hasnt been mentioned at all yet for Dawnguard, so Bethesda are either keeping it tightly under wraps, or it didnt make it into the actual DLC.

In an E3 interview for Dawnguard when questioned about snow elves (mistakenly named frost elves by the interviewer), Todd Howard left a gap of silence and then stated that he "didn't want to spoil anything". He also stated that there was some side quests and a 'really cool' dungeon also in Dawnguard. Could this mean that the Snow elf Prince is still in Dawnguard, but as a side quest, as it doesn't fit into the context of the main questlines for Dawnguard? Will this lead on to show us the inclusion of spears too, due to there relevance to the Snow elf Prince? (Read 'Fall of the Snow elf Prince' in Skyrim)
