Getting to Scripts?

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 10:08 am

I am probably being really dense here (and not helped by constantly getting errors on here and the CK Wiki), but how do I actually open/edit scripts?
I can get the Script Manager up without a problem, but cannot find a way to actually edit Scripts... I just keep getting a message about Windows not being able to find the file to open the Script... But I thought there was an internal editor?

Any help would be appreciated... I get the feeling it is going to be really obvious, and it is just that I am not with it right now... :/

I'm in the same boat here, feeling kinda stupid. Right now all I can do i open it in an external editor, so I'm assume there is some sort of papyrus IDE it's supposed to link to, otherwise I'll have to figure out how to save it to the creation kit via notepad.

Finally got onto the Wiki :)

For Scripts attached to objects, at least, you need to right-click and select 'Edit Source' to bring up the Scripting Window; I still do not know if there is a way to view all the scripts like you could in Oblivion, but that will do for now for me at least :)

So:
1. Go to Reference/Form
2. Go to Scripts Tab (If necessary)
3. Right Click
4. 'Edit Source'

I just set it to use Notepad++ as an external editor. They may not have included one. nm.

All of the scripts can also be accessed under Data\scripts\Source ;)

Cool, though I thought there was going to be a sixy IDE based on the video preview we saw on youtube, oh well.

This is trivial, but I don't suppose there's syntax highlighting?

That was just Notepad++, which you can find here: http://notepad-plus-plus.org/

I set the language to Assembly in Notepad++. Seemed like it highlights most of the syntax.

Edit: Or listen to what SmkViper said :P

The “sixy IDE” you saw in the trailer was Notepad++ set up to do Papyrus syntax coloring. We’ve posted instructions on setting up both http://www.creationkit.com/Notepad%2B%2B_Setup and http://www.creationkit.com/Sublime_Text_Setup on the wiki, and those steps should also help you get started with syntax coloring in whatever editor you prefer. :)

Haha, nice. I just did so myself in N++, but your highlighting is much better. Thanks!
