Creation Kit issues

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 1:44 pm

Perhaps i'm missing something, but when trying to edit NPC faces, I can only see their eyes and mouth. The full preview seems to work, but not the head only view. This has brick walled my first mod, as I want to create a companion NPC and want his face to look a certain way.

There were also random errors on loading just the default skyrim.esm, don't remember that from loading oblivion in the construction set. Not sure if thats normal of not.

On a semi related note, I'm attempting to change the default Argonian shout sounds to that of the Khajiit race, as I think it sounds much more natural. However I can't seem to locate the files I need to change, or at least I'm not positive on how to go about it... The CK def got a bit more complicated :o... Not sure if its as simple as editing a global setting, or if I have to script something / make a new race. If anyone has any ideas, i'm all ears.

Uhmm, have you zoomed out? (the mouse wheel) If you are too close then they will turn that way, even in the actor editor

It seems I can load human faces just fine, but because i was only trying to create an Argonian... Diddn't notice untill just now....

Now I wonder if this is a client side issue, or if anybody else is able to edit argonian faces?

Could you post the contents of your rendererInfo.txt file from My Documents/My Games/Skyrim?

Currently, the only known way to effectively edit an Argonian face and be able to see it is to manually adjust the camera in the full preview so that the face is pretty visible, if not ideal. Annoying, I know, and it may take a bit of trial and error to get the right camera view, this method will have to do until Bethesda fixes this. Also, if you want to know how to see the face in the Face Anim Preview tab, just select the full preview option, and then adjust the camera to see the face if necessary. If anyone knows anything more on this, feel free to comment. This is just based off of my observations, of which I have currently concluded it to be a glitch.

I'll give it a shot next time I'm able too, was hopeing it wasn't some wierd driver issue.

Thanks for the input.

Update:

Gave it a shot in full view, dosen't seem like that updates the small changes you make. So it would require makeing a change on a slider, and refreashing that image somehow... Not very effective. Face changes seem to work just fine on any other race, haven't tried Khajiit yet.

What a let down :\... only two mods I wanted to make were to create an argonian companion and change my shouts... looks like more waiting :(

Yeah, well I hadn't tried to see if changes are updated in real time in the full view. Sounds like it's pretty much impossible to edit the face effectively right now without being driven to the point of insanity, which is annoying to me as well since I'm also working on a mod that adds new Argonian NPCs to the game world. This is likely to make mod development take two or three times or longer than it should. Hopefully they can fix this without breaking something else, like the newly fixed lip sync tool, which has been infamously broken since SI.
