Tried using "creation kit" on steam's search function and looked to see if it had already been automatically installed.

I'm surprised Bethesda left no instructions on how to download or acquire the kit

Could anyone please direct me to the kit's location?

It's under Tools on Steam. Steam Library, click on the thing under it and pick Tools.

Open Steam, click View on the top menu bar, go to Tools, select Creation Kit

Restart your Steam application (totally shut down, and restart it) as that'll force it to update the list.
