Merging an ESP?

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 2:33 am

So heres the conundrum.
I was working on a crafting mod.
got about half way done, saved, and had to reload because one of the windows I needed to use, refused to open.
So I reloaded everything, and started where I left off.

However, for some dumb reason, the Creation Kit decided, It didn't want to set my Mod as the Active File.

So when I went to save, I was unable to save 'over' the original, as it was not the active file.

So Now My mod is litterally split in 'two'.

Anyone know a way to fix this without having to go back and manually change everything again?

and or, wil I have to use a 3rd party program to port everything over?

Have to bump this even though people hatepeople doing that, but this forum moves very fast and this has obviously got burried.
An answer to this question can also go towards others that fal into what I did.

I know for oblivion you had to use a 3rd party tool to merge.

*shudders*

Not my favorite thing to do. TESVSnip is probably the thing to use (available on the Nexus), or TESVEdit once its out. As for how to, I'm only really familiar with the TESVEdit method, so I can't be of much help.

Yar, I figured those would be the only method of doing that.

Wish it was as simple as loading two mods up, and resaving them together within the editor.

The ability to merge .esp files is very important to the collaborative project I am coordinating. I wish they would not have left this feature out. I know Morrowind's CS had it, because I used it.

Same exact thing happened to me, definitely a feature the creation kit should have, does anyone have a guide on how to merge the esp files using TESVSnip?

If the two "halves" dont edit the same records, you can do it it easily in a minute with tesVsnip (available on skyrimnexus) . It's really just a group copy and paste procedure and a save.

download it
extract from zip, no install necessary
open program
open both esp in program - they will appear separately in a tree view
copy data from one to the other
click(highlight) the esp that has all the data in it, then File>Save

At least there are solutions. I just wish they were part of the CK.
