Can't get my recorded dialogue to work

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 4:52 am

I'm following the tutorial at: /bethesda_tutorial_dialogue (it won't let me post links)

Working on a dialogue branch and trying to record silly stuff as I wanted to make a light-hearted first attempt at all of this.

When I press "Preview," I can hear what I just recorded. However, when I hit save, it doesn't seem like anything is happening. I did notice a Temp.wav file saved in my data/sound/voices folder, but when I load up my mod, the NPC will not play the recorded dialogue.

I have not found anything in the Wiki that helps any further.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Does your NPC have a race voice? I'm doing the same thing and when I first started I thought to myself "I don't want to give him a generic voice, I want to say all the lines myself!" However, doing so made it impossible to load my recordings, and the NPC had an echoey voice that said things like "Hey Skeeverbutt!" Once I gave him a generic Nord voice I was able to get all my wav files to work. If that's not the problem please go into a bit more detail.

I think you may be right. It now is at least attempting to save something and now displays a path for a valid voice type. However, now its getting hung up on saving the wav and goes to "not responding."

I've had that happen a couple times (I usually click a script one too many times). Hopefully if you leave it be for a minute or two it will finish saving. If not it may be your hardware, but if you have a rig good enough to play Skyrim that seems unlikely.

I closed the CK and rebooted it. Cleared it all up.

Greatly appreciate the help!
