I like the look of Ebony armor but want the stats of Daedric, so for my first mod I decided to create a craftable armor set called Cleansed Daedric armor, giving the player the ability to forge a set of Daedric that looks like Ebony. To make sure I was doing everything correctly I did just the boots at first. I created the item and the recipes for creating and tempering the item, loaded the mod, and was satisfied when everything worked as planned. So I then loaded up the creation kit to do the rest of the set but ran into a problem. I loaded my mod but the item I created is no longer in the Daedric armor list, which I guess makes sense as the lists seem to be categorized by item model. Despite setting the model to EbonyBootsAA in the Models section of the item edit window it does not appear to be categorized at all. I think part of the problem is that the Male and Female world model sections are empty. I've tried to change these but the Edit window prompts me to find NIF files on disk rather than being able to use stuff in the game's archives. I guess ultimately this won't stop me from making my mod, although it will apparently keep me from having an item model preview in the crafting menu in game. Does anyone know anything more about this stuff? The creation kit wiki doesn't seem to deal with this aspect of item editing.
