Need Help with a book case

I've found after copying ALL the parts, (Bookcase orange and yellow bits)
using copy render and pasting them where I need in the extention of my Breezehome
they do not activate when I try to use them.

From what I understand things like bookcase's, weapon/sheild mounts etc have a static
and an activator, "m not sure how all this works and Beth has seen fit to leave it out of the tutorials
so far.

Is there something I need to do to make these work?

Thanks in advance

Know what you mean.
So far I copied the Breezeway bookshelf and pasted fine, as well as the basic weapon racks.
All this is based on Reference Ids. There is some talk about referencing Id and static objects in the tutorial.
As far as the weapon activators, I have been able to replicate the ability to place weapons and shields on the plaques but unable to retrieve them, except the shields. I can get the shields off the plaques.
I use the "Warehouseprefab" room and get some of the stuff of there but there seems to be a problem with copying and pasting when it comes to reference Ids, in some cases.

When in comes to maniquines, I am totally lost right now. Copy and pasting does nothing and they appear randomly when I enter the room, as if they were waling around before I got in there. That only happened when I finished up my Navmesh for the room so that part must have something to do with that. I will definately be using that later for some spooky mod stuff once I figure out why they are doing that in the first place.

In some cases I have gotten the weapon plaques to work but have been unable to replicate the success, only the failures as of right now.

As far as the book shelfs, I would make sure you have all the yellow and orange bits. There are two orange bits behind the book case that is easy to leave out of the 'copy and paste' method. That's all I know for now. Ill keep trying and once I figure it out I make sure to seek out this topic again, but I dont know how long that will take.

Thanks for the reply,..

I went round and round that thing lol and made sure I had highlighted any and every thing to do with that book case.
I'd happyly make new ones but I have no idea what I need and whwer those bits are.

I think Beth needs a tutorial explaining these things, a video would be nice but at least a text tut, we won't be the last
lost in this issue where they used mixed media to make stuff

I have just successfully copied and pasted an enitre shelf set up, including 18 books. You have to make sure you have the following:

PlayerBookshelfContainer (orange block, found behind bookshelf usually)
PlayerBookshelfTrigger (big orange transparent piece that usually encloses the books)
PlayerBookshelfClickTrigger (narrow, long transparent orange piece that usually sits at the bottom of the shelf)
The books (small, individual orange pieces, clearly visible)

The yellow pieces in front and sides are just Collision Markers that prevent you from bumping into the case... They have nothing to do with activating the bookcase only keeping the books in :)

I had a similar problem with mannequins, specifically trips I couldn't select or manipulate. Rather than copy an entire mannequin setup, I just copied the MannequinActivateTrig box inside the XMarkerHeading on Proudspire basemants mannequins and pasted that. Then I got my own Xmarker and mannequin, LinkRef'ed them to each other and made the trig the mannequins parent. Don't know if that helps? Worked perfectly for me, no moving mannequins at all.

If you want to play around with setting up your own bookcase here is the thread where we were brainstorming for the past two days

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1343710-creating-bookshelves/

I was able to set up upper bookshelf after some fiddling and it worked perfectly.. When attempting to set up the bottom shelf, using the same method, for some reason it would not work. Eventually I just copied and pasted the entire upper shelf set up into the lower shelf. It all works for me now. :)

You're welcome :)

Yes, when you done setting up the bookcase just put those collision markers back so they hug the bookcase.. They are invisible obstacles so if you leave them way out front you and your follower will be bumping into them or worse yet, you might block your way completely

Ok thanks for the tip in the mannequin. I found out my problem with the weapon racks/plaques. They were too close to the wall. They have to be pretty far out to retrieve smaller objects like daggers and thin swords. Something to keep in mind if we start having trouble with very thin modded weapons and weapon racks...

BarkSpear, just a wee thought,.. you can hit the M key and it'll give toy access to the underlying parts to highlight, and using the CTRL then hit M again
to get the last markers
