I would think no because they arent really an "animal" but I would love to know as Im a sneak archer playing DiD about to head to Riften and have a strange feeling im going to run into one, and I know I wont be able to kill it.

At a guess, I'd say yes because you can soul trap them and they are not undead.

Why won't you be able to kill it? Do you think you could run away from it? I would suggest attempting it, and if it fails, then I would just run fast and far, and try to hide when possible. Or use shouts if you've collected any yet? Do you have any good poisons? Poison has always been an archer's friend in TES games. You might try a kiting tactic of hitting it with a poisoned arrow, running for 5 or 10 seconds till you have enough distance, then hit it again with a poison arrow. It may take awhile, but you'll kill it sooner or later (well, I suppose you do always run the risk that as you run away, you run into something worse like a bear or dragon).

Still, with some care, you should be able to kill it - maybe you can snipe it from a ledge, or up on a rock where the troll will have a hard time getting to you, since they mainly use melee attacks?

I doubt it, i often see Spriggans fighting trolls despite them being able to make every animal fight for them.

As for killing them, sneak attack and fire-enchated bow works wonders.

Yes I can confirm it indeed does. I used it to command two frost trolls a few days ago.

You know, reading that, I realize there's an inherent trap in asking about something like this on the forums. Isn't the OP worried that someone will lie just to get him killed on his DiD char, so they can bask in the schadenfreude?

meh you have a point, but if I died because of that now I might not count it. I know its dead IS dead, but its my game. Kinda old be funny though....

You mean he might get... trolled?

I use the bosmer racial power all the time, I don't encounter that many trolls because of the regions I choose to visit when farming alchemical ingredients, but I can confirm it does affect trolls. My favourite application for the power is to make mammoths kill their giant guardians at camps. Commanding three mammoths simultaneously is fantastic.
